The class will be divided in groups of 4 students each, and every member will be given a different role.

Each member of the groups will concentrate on the particular aspect of the research on Women in the Middle Ages that was assigned to her/him. Later on the members of the group will put their individual work together and will produce one single paper, build a web page or anything else they choose to do as the final product.

Students with identical roles may work together to compare ideas based on the information they have collected.

When the students have understood their roles and researched the background material they consider relevant for their roles, they can start working as a group, discussing the issue(s) and planning their work. Group work should result in a consensus document or presentation.

THE CLERGY MINSTRELS
THE INQUISITION WITCHES

To make your presentation credible/plausible you must get a clear perspective of what life was like in those days, by studying different aspects of the topic. It is important to follow the following steps:

Once you have decided on and assigned the different roles to each member in the team, and before visiting the web sites, visit your description role section and read the different requirements that have to be fulfilled: One can choose between the roles of a clergyman, a minstrel, a member of the inquisition or a witch.

Every role character will have to develop his/her own task on the assigned part of the research related to women in the Middle Ages. You will have to work in a group and your team's goal will consist of gathering as much information as possible to design a document, which will help you to understand how women lived in the 14th century. The members of the group will get together and discuss their research in a co-operative and collaborative way to be presented later on as a Blog, a Collage, a PowerPoint presentation, a web page or a short story with the role characters in that event. For the following step you are meant to write a storyboard (a graphic, sequential depiction of a narrative) or film a digital video recording (about 10 minutes) with the purpose of presenting it to a television production company that has called for a contest to produce a short film about the topic.

With all the information gathered by the different role characters:

  • Compare women's lives in Middle Ages to those of women in the 21st century.
  • Report on some of the achievements women have accomplished since then. For instance you can pay particular attention to Freedom.
