The Inquisition. You are going to get in contact with one of the most relevant, shocking and sinister aspects of the period we are studying.  It was a control system which served the King and the Church at the same time. It watched over, so that everybody, especially women, lived according to the rules and at the same time it punished those who thought and acted according to their own free will.

Use the Internet information to answer these questions specifically related to your role character:

1. Do you think the Inquisition would make any sense nowadays? Argue/Give arguments for/against.

2. Did women play an important role in the organisation of the Inquisition?

3. Do you think the church was stronger in those days than it is today?

4. If you could travel in time and could be part of an Act of Faith, what would you do?

5. Were you aware of the lack of freedom women had in that century?

6. Was it easy for a woman to express her thoughts in those days?

7.  Probably in The Middle Ages people didn't take into consideration the cultural richness that some issues like ethnic and religious diversity add to countries. How do you think those influenced the concept of politics and religion in the period?
