October 25, 1999: We got the Home Study Approval on Friday!! I am so
excited. I didn't really think it would be a problem but it was really cool to read
the report and find out what the Social Worker thought of us, our
backgrounds, our home, and what our references said about us. I did find
one mistake in the financial reporting which I will call her about today.

We were also called last Tuesday by CCAI (the adoption agency) telling us
we were approved and to expect the information packet and dossier guide in
the mail. We received it the same day we got the HS reports -- good Karma!
Spent some time over the weekend reading through everything. Wow, this is
really something. There is so much paperwork you need, most of it seems
to be time sensitive, and most of it needs three types of authorizations --
local notary, state/federal certification, and Chinese embassy authentication.
There are 12 documents (I think) altogether which you have to pay varying
costs to obtain, pay for the notification, pay for the certification and pay for
the authentication.

We also had our fingerprints taken last Thursday. That was pretty easy but
VERY messy (LOL). We had to drive about 2 hours to center city
Philadelphia, took about 15 minutes to fill out the paperwork and do the
prints, and then 2 hours home again.

I received my first baby gifts last weekend. That was just so cool!! I received
two little outfits and Winnie-the-Pooh shoes (adorable!) and a teddy bear.
I've started to clean out the room we are making into the nursery (it was our
guest bedroom).

We've also decided on her name -- Rachel Anne. She's becoming very real
to me now. I find myself thinking about Rachel's room and Rachel's
shoes..... :oD
