2/28/00: There is no progress to report.
|
|
We are just waiting, waiting. Everyone I talked to while we were doing our
paperwork and everything said that the waiting was the hardest part. I hardly
believed it with everything we went through with our paperwork but THEY
WERE RIGHT!!
|
|
Our dossier has been in China now for 6 weeks. I know that nothing will likely
happen for at least another 4-5 months. This really BITES!! LOL
|
|
I think about this every day -- it's really consuming and there's nothing to do
but wait. We're working on the nursery (I'm buying the crib today!!) and I've
been buying some clothes and stuff but mostly we're just waiting and not
really able to do much in the meantime.

|
That's all from me. Just hadn't posted in a while and though I'd say Hi!

3/28/00: Hi everyone. Been a while since I posted a progress report. There's
not a whole lot going on but thought I'd let you know what is happening.
|
|
Our dossier has been in China for about 10 weeks now. Referrals (child
matches) seem to be running about 6 months right now and have been for
quite a while. If that continues to hold true, we should have our referral
sometime in July (we hope!).

We did receive a packet of information from the US Consulate in Guangzhou
with a bunch of paperwork (yes more paperwork!) we have to fill out and take
with us. This mostly concerns getting Rachel's Visa and Green Card to come
back to the States. The paperwork IS pretty funny -- much of it's in Chinese
so we'll have to ask the Agency to help us fill it out. They also have this little
map included that's supposed to show where they are but it's all in Chinese
so it doesn't make much sense. I guess we'll figure it out when we get there.
Good thing our agency sends guides and translators with us!
|
|
We also received our preliminary travel information from the Agency (the first
of three). This packet outlined the things we should be doing now like shots,
passport checks, etc. -- all of which we've done. As Michael said, "Then we're
ahead of the game." At least for the moment.
|
|
The nursery is coming along! We will be painting/papering soon -- just waiting
until the weather is warm enough to keep the windows open to dry it out and
air out the paint fumes (they really make Michael sick). We have all the
furniture we need for her room -- just got her crib last weekend (it's
wonderful!!) and am on the lookout now for a high chair and a playpen.
|
|
I've been in contact with a number of people who have adopted from China
and they are giving us hints on how/what to pack, what not to bother with, etc.
and other tips to make the waiting easier. I'm not sure what else to do right
now. The wait is just KILLING me!! LOL Well -- good things come to those
who wait right?!? That's what I keep telling myself.
|
|
Michael and I have already started talking about the next one. Even started
planning the bedroom for her as well as started talking names (what'chall
think of Rebecca??? LOL).
|
|
So that's our update. I'll write more when it happens but we're in a slow
waiting period. I'm hoping, hoping that when we can get outside and get to
gardening and all the outside stuff that time will go a bit quicker for us.
