| Wanted 1 or 2 persons for crew aboard a Rawson30 for Mexico and other warm destinations. As of September 2008 I am still looking for crew. Beginning November of 2008 I'll return to Mexico were the boat is currently stored and I'll be doing the bottom paint and the usually early season preperations. I have sailed coast wise south around Mexico and the Baja peninsula to date, logging some 4000 NM. I have San Francisco bay for several years I have owned the boat more than 10 years and I have been sailing since 1980. I consider myself and my vessel to be well founded for this venture. The boat has under gone an extensive re-fitting over the last 2 years. Upgrades and equipment has been installed by me. I live on the hook to save money and finish preparations till there is a good weather window. Help is required in the form of elbow grease and tactfully telling the skipper that hes doing stupid things when you really think he is. Day sails and shake down cruises will be happening as soon as the boat is back in the water. I would like people to just show commitment to the voyage and a willingness to bust butt getting the boat and yourself ready. I am happy to teach and take on new sailors. Compatibility is key as this is not a big boat. Everything else can be taught. You will be allowed 1 duffle bag and you are expected to cover your personal expenses. Provisioning and accommodations will be modest but not Spartan. Input as to crew comfort and improvements are encouraged.
Day sail crew will be casual and friends are encouraged to just show up with a small bag and sun block. Shake down cruises may require more of a time commitment (a long week) as we are testing gear in ocean conditions (if it breaks you could be late for work). Committed crew gets first priority. Priority is based on time committed to cruising itinerary and bust butt factor. Couples are welcome as long as you have a stable relationship. Contraband will not be tolerated at any time. Any illegal activity by the crew the captain may be held responsible for the crews conduct by authorities and the vessel forfeited. Offending individuals will be sent home or marooned as deemed necessary by the Captain. The definitions of contraband are, but not limited to, the following. #1 Substance Abuse: Any substance that is illegal in territorial waters of the country which has claim to those waters. Or deemed illegal by international law. Debilitating or excessive alcohol consumption. #2 Romantic advances: (Its a small boat it happens) Un-wanted romantic advances toward other crew members will be dealt with in the harshest terms. Advances directed toward the captain will be accepted gracefully if not reciprocated. Reciprocated advances are not contraband. #3 Excessive drama: is contraband. (See marooning) Disputes may arise between individual crew members. Or between the captain and crew members. If in the event an equitable compromise or resolution cannot be found a properly supervised round of rock, paper, scissors will be the deciding factor (best 2 out of 3). The captain has the final word in all disputes with regard to safety, navigation and vessel operations (sorry, its my boat). |
