Preface My interest in genealogy began long before I ever heard the word. I was blessed to live near my grandparents and to have a grandmother who spent hours telling me family stories. I do not take credit for the information herein. I have merely compiled the research of many people. My search began with my grandfather Robert Darwin Michael and his descendants. In the 1980’s I attended a several family reunions. I met Iva Dawson who had done much research on Jacob Michael and Evelyn Shaver who had done much research on Christopher Michael. Her research led me to Robert Fry. I spent years compiling all of the information and in 1999 I became determined to have the book finished before 2000. On December 22, 1999 the book was complete or so I thought. Suddenly information began to pour in from the internet. Ron Wintterow and Jeanie contributed much additional information which restarted my research. This genealogy is far from complete. Material was obtained from Bible records, gravestone inscriptions, official records from courthouses, censuses and libraries, family remembrances and personal interviews. Omissions and errors were not intentional but due to lack of information or misinformation. The “book” grew far too big to affordably publish so I have created this website. A special thank you to all who generously shared their research and all of those who contributed.
