ROLLING STONES A H I T ! They have been making music for 44 years now But, On Sunday October was the first time they were in Austin, including:Mick Jagger,Keith Richards and Ron Wood. They opened with "You Got Me Rockin".What a fantastic Night!, proclaimed Mick jagger early in the set . This truly magical show entertained an almost sell out crowd of 42,000 fans. Los Lonely Boys warmed the crowd up as the back up band, and then fans waited what seemed like forever for the Rolling Stones to hit the stage, but it was only an hour and 20 minutes later.Austin Mayor Will Wynn who meet Mick Jagger behind stage said"The economic impact of this concert is like a Longhorns home football game oh about $ 25 million dollars and we are also getting another $300,000 dollarsfrom the Rolling Stones, for our Parks Department. But best of all so many people in Austin are having a great time ! The $95 dollar tickets did'nt sell out and were going for as low as $ 30 dollars on line, from scalpers hoping to take advantage of people who waited until the last minute to buy their tickets. Still the $ Million Dollars it did bring in, made it the highest grossing concert in Austin.Lance Armstrong and Andy Roddick were also behind the stage , but pretty much Mick Jagger spent most of his free time kicking it with the Mayor of Austin Will Wynn. Even the fact that your choice of watching was to either stand or sit on the ground most baby boomers still showed up even after learning no folding chairs were allowed. |
