| Erin, was little when she first visited our Oklahoma farm. And assurred us that she would get married here. She always loved it's rolling green hills with the woods beyond. We just figured as she grew older she'd change her mind. However, she grew up, found her love, and asked us if they could marry the following May on the slopes of our farm, just as she had always imagined. We of course said yes, and asked "What do you want done ?" Remember I said mid May in Oklahoma is early for flowers to bloom. She replied "Just mow the lawn and keep it green." What about an alternate site in case we are hit with one of our famous Oklahoma Windstorms? No, she said,no place else would do. Well then, what about the guest list ? We want to keep it small in case we have to move the ceremony indoors. "Without all of our family and friends, it wouldn't be a wedding." She said. Over the next year, Erin maintained her certainty that it would be perfect- something she had to convince her more practical grandmother often, as the turbulent weather that year included a tornado, windstorms, and a severe ice storm. On her wedding day, however, the wind was calm, the temperature mild, the sunset beautiful, even the grass, which rarely cooperated with spring, turned a deep green. As she walked up the hill I snapped a picture of her very special day. |
