* November 15th 1863They were attacked, the Brigade forms and a � hour firefight ensue. They held the Rebs until 4 A.M. the next morning. |

Captain of Company "C" is wounded in action at Lenoir. After the battle the Regiment retired toward Knoxville all that night and got to Knoxville at daylight. They got most of their wounded out. |
* November 17th 1863
Mentioned in Michael H. Higgins Diary� �Knoxville almost starved out. The Rebs are constantly shooting. Benjamine shell them ... Expecting an attack from the enemy to night.� RWB
Major Charge in Knoxville.At about 9 A.M. the Regiment made a charge on the Rebs in an open field about � of a mile from their works. They met with very heavy losses.

The Col. of the 17th Mich was killed by an enemy sharp shooter.
