* Battle of 7 days

June 25th-Julu 1st 1862

The Confederates started on June 25th to push back the Union army from the door step of their Capital (Richmond). What fallowed was the 7 days between June 25th to July 1st 1862 had at least one battle per day.

Below you will find a description of the 2nd Michigan Vol. Inf. involvement in these battles.

What occurred during the battles during the Seven days was chaotic to say the least. General Lee now in command of the army of Virginia pushed the Federal forces back from Richmond all the way to Harrisons Landing were the Union held.

The fact that any soldier was able to write during these days is amazing as Charles B. Hayden did.

The 2nd Michigan were involved in this mass retreat and directly in 3 of its 7 battles which were White Oak Swamp (June 29th), Glendale (June 30th) and Malvern Hill (July 1st).
