Ok thanks to a friendly site that is staying quiet at the moment the following link above was given to me on smartcards as I have no idea on what I am doing can some one help me ??

Ok as I can tell from the site the card is a ISO 7816 I think ?, and the pin's are as follow

PIN 1-BOTTOM RIGHT, PIN 2 - MIDDLE RIGHT, PIN 3 - TOP RIGHT

PIN 4 - TOP LEFT, PIN 5 - MIDDLE LEFT, PIN 6 - BOTTOM LEFT

PIN 1 - VCC, PIN 2 - R/W, PIN 3 - CLK, PIN 4 - I/O, PIN 5 - VPP, PIN 6 - GND

I have no idea if any of this info is right or not but it is a start

This simple PC Smartcard reader was shown in Electronics Design magazine February 17, 1997 issue on page 172 in the ideas for design section. The circuit is designed by Jose Carlos Cossio and is based on simple smartcard reader design shown on the same magazine July 8, 1996. This circuit takes all smartcard operating power form PC parallel port. The basic circuit idea is quite similar to the simple smartcard reader shown in What you need to know about electronics telecards written by Stephane Bausson. There are some minor differences, which means that all the same software can't ne used
