College Initiative (Ujima)

Chairperson: Marc Coq ( [email protected] )

• Serves as a liaison between NSBE Alumni and Student chapters in the surrounding area
• Encourages and assists in the coordination of local Alumni and Student chapter programs
• Conducts various workshops that educate and enlighten students in academics as well as post graduate settings (i.e. preparing for job interviews).

Marketing / Public Relations

Chairperson: Minks Jalloh ( [email protected] )

• Serves as our funnel of our chapter activity to the "outside community"
• Prepares releases for advertising chapter activities
• Ensures a working relationship among MHVAE and other organizations with mutual interests

Pre College Initiative / NSBE Jr.

Chairperson: Rey Marsh ( [email protected] )

• Develops and implements innovative programs to stimulate the interest of youth in the fields of science and technology.
• Implements and maintains the chapter Build A City competition (a creative exercise that encourages high school students to construct a virtual city while making best uses of available resources)

Try-Math-A-Lyon / NSBE Jr.

Chairperson: Rey Marsh ( [email protected] )

• Created and facilitated by the Alumni Extension, the Try-Math-A-Lon programs seeks to improve the math skills of high school students to prepare them for the PSAT, SAT and ACT examinations. In addition, the Try-Math-A-Lon is designed to prepare students for math and science courses in college.
• Implements and maintains the chapter Try-Math-A-Lon competition
• Encourages participation in local and regional Try-Math-A-Lon competitions
