2nd Movie

The movie is basically "the ending" of the anime version of the series. It mainly focused on tying up the main loose end left at the end of episode 70... which was when Syaoran returned to Hong Kong after confessing his feelings, but Sakura was not able to tell him hers.

The movie opens night time in a construction site of what used to be Eriol's house... and Clow Read's many years before that. The area was being turned into an amusement park. Unknown to anyone, lost, buried and forgotten in the foundation of the house was still another sleeping Clow Card which is awake now!

The story then continues with Sakura. Its been 4 months since Syaoran left, its summer and Sakura and the gang are now in the 1st semester of the the 6th grade. Everyone is living a relatively quiet and normal life.

Sakura's class was also presenting a play for the town's Nadeshiko Festival, in which Sakura plays the lead role of the princess. Touya-oniichan and Yukito-san remains inseparable. Fujitaka (Sakura's Dad) is still busy with work, but seems to be getting along better with Sonomi (Tomoyo's Mom). The only blemish in Sakura's relatively perfect life is the overwhelming regret she feels about not being able to tell Syaoran her true feelings... The fact that the lines in the play she is starring in seemed to reflect her own feelings.

It all quickly changed as Sakura gains another chance when she literally runs into Syaoran and Meiling who came back for a visit (Tomoyo invited Meiling to spend her summer holiday with her, and Meiling dragged Syaoran along). The majority of the movie then focuses on Tomoyo and Meiling trying to set the mood for Sakura to finally proclaim her feelings. BUT they always get interrupted in some form or another!

In-between the super-kawaii love scenes, the Sakura Cards start disappearing one by one. And for some strange reason, stuff around town start to disappear too. The unsealed Clow Card was stealing the Sakura Cards one by one. And by the time Sakura realized what was happening, it was too late. Everytime she tries to stop the Cards from getting stolen, the card she used gets stolen too and the weird things happening in Tomoeda start getting more serious than disappearing landmarks.

Eriol, Mizuki-sensei, Nakuru, and Suppi make a cameo appearance as Eriol makes a phone call to Sakura from England to explain what was happening (a memory of Clow Read's that Eriol just recently recovered).  In accordance to Chinese philosophy, everything has a balance. Positive and negative, Ying and Yang. The 52 Clow Cards are positive power and to balance that power is the negative power of emptiness..."The Nothing". "The Nothing" was so dangerous and powerful (its power is equivalent to all 52 cards) that Clow Read sealed it separately underneath the foundations of the house. Now that the construction had broken the seal, and the 52 Clow cards were changed into Sakura cards... there is no longer any means to balance that power! The Nothing was now in a rampage to recover its "friends", and every time it steals a card, it manifests its power of "nothingness" over the town.

As the Card got more aggressive, the disappearance of the town gets more devastating. And here's the big bomb! Eriol explains that the only way for Sakura to stop the card is to seal it and change it into a Sakura Card. But in order to do so... she must also fulfill that balance thing. She must "sacrifice her most precious feeling". Before Eriol could explain, he gets cut off as his magic was jammed by "the Nothing".

Sakura was unwilling to let go of her most precious memory and feeling. She remembered the vision of a world without love when went through Yue's judgment. She asked Syaoran's advice, only to hear him say the inevitable... She has no choice. Hurt by Syaoran's words, she runs away and runs into Yukito. And Yue comforted her by giving her words of encouragement.

Well, one good thing happened though... in an attempt to cover up a Clow Card  attack, Sakura used to Sleep card and Yamazaki-kun (who was playing the prince) ended up hurting himself on the fall. Syaoran ended up stepping in. Of course, "The Nothing" attacks just when the part gets interesting. Sakura is really very unlucky! She can't even confess her love indirectly!

By this time, the only people who hasn't disappeared were Sakura, Syaoran, Tomoyo, Meiling, Cerberus and Yue. Tomoyo makes Sakura wear a costume saying that if she wears that costume, she said that Sakura always came back with the costume she made. She also gives Syaoran a matching costume, saying that if Li-kun wears it, she knows that Li-kun will protect Sakura-chan and both of them will come back safely.

Anyways, battle ensues...which was the best fight I thought out of the whole series. Eriol's fight was pretty disappointing...Sakura looses her allies and cards one by one. Then she witnesses Syaoran fall in battle. Well, since Syaoran doesn't use Clow Read's power, his magic is able to penetrate "The Nothing's defenses. Unfortunately, he simply isn't strong enough to defeat it.

It was finally revealed that the reason why "The Nothing" was stealing the Sakura Cards was because it was lonely. It woke up after a long sleep only to find that they were gone to a new Mistress. It was angry at Sakura for taking away all its friends and leaving her behind all alone. By this time, Sakura only had one card left. The nameless Sakura Card with the winged heart that was created from Sakura's tears when she found out that Syaoran was going home to Hong Kong in episode 70.

Sakura does her "Sakura thing". And that friends don't force their friends. Then being nice to the distraught card and telling her that she can join her friends. The Card agrees to let herself be sealed so she can be with her friends again. As Sakura changed the card, it captured Syaoran and seals him inside a bubble. Eriol's prediction comes true. Because Sakura doesn't have enough power left to transform the last card, "The Nothing" captures Syaoran to use his power.

Sakura's most precious memory, was Syaoran. As the result of this sacrifice, Syaoran will forget her and all his feelings toward her. Of course, he gets sealed away before he even finishes his sentence to say his last goodbyes... Sakura starts to cry and the unnamed Sakura Card starts to emit a bright light. The Card then tells her to stop crying and that everything will be okay. She looks up and sees that "The Nothing" has merged with her Sakura Card creating "The Hope".

In the background, Syaoran turns to her with a blank look on his face. Sakura then tells him that even though he probably doesn't know her anymore, what she's been trying to tell him for a long time was that she loves him and that he was her most important person. But Syaoran simply looks at her as if he doesn't comprehend what she's saying. Sakura starts to cry again. Then Syaoran simply says: Demo da... (and his expression changes into a gentle look) Sakura [I feel the same, Sakura].  With that, we know that "The Hope's power was at work as the sunlight touches the town, all the horrible "void holes" and the people who disappeared are restored.

Sakura getting ready to jump the chasm that separates her from Syaoran Ikuyo! (Here I come!)

Syaoran:<waving his hands worriedly> Oi! Yosette! M-matte ni motto ni moduru kara! (Hey! Stop it! W-wait for it to return to normal!)

Sakura: Yada! (No way!) <smiles and jumps across the chasm into Syaoran's arms> DAISUKI!
