Hope
Are you sure of this thing called hope?
Certainly I am totally trusting, yet afraid
It comes and goes and mocks us mortal as paupers
Ever out of reach so we are left yearning for it
Until by sheer chance we grab it and hold it tight
You and I we dream of a better time, or that time past
Squirming in our palms and stomachs with contentment
Alone yet together is the strangest sensation
And we act as if we are favored by gods, by fate?
Yet in this flesh there is nothing but emotion.
I hope it can grow stronger, my love.
I hope that it will never fade from our grasp.
I hope all our dreams will be realised, together
I hope we will be there as we always hoped
