  Located in a marvelous natural context in the middle of the rocky grounds of Ciudad Universitaria, the Botanical Garden is one the favorite places of the people of Mexico City to rest and to contemplate de beauty of its fantastic gardens.  
 

The Botanic Garden is part of Ciudad Universitaria and in it can be appreciated a big variety of trees and flowers of all Mexico. Because of that the botanical garden is divided in three sections:

  • Desertic plants section: this kind of plants like cactus, yucas and biznagas are distributed magnificently inside the volcanic stones, creating a very natural and agreeable view, moreover in the little caves that are in the big rocks there are basins inhabited by fishes and little frogs.
     
 
  • Tropical plants section.- this section, one of the more beautiful of the place, is located inside a greenhouse that recreates the climatic and humidity conditions of a tropical forest with a big number of hanging plants and ferns as soon as several species of trees surrounded by creeks and waterfalls.
  • Temperate plants section.- in this part we can find inside a pretty grass yard, the most representative trees of the mountains of Mexico like pines, oaktrees and liquidambar trees between many more.
  
  Also the botanical garden is famous because of its important investigations about the Mexico's flora that highlights the sections dedicated to the medicinal plants and the other one dedicated to the acquatic plants where in a basin with fishes and little waterfalls we can enjoy the white water lilies and the lotus flowers. Moreover the botanical garden has a store where you can buy some plants species and specializated books. A distinguished aspect is that the entrance to the Botanical Garden is free and you can access it from Insurgentes Avenue.
