I am Metallikate, your hostess.
Welcome to my mad menagerie of radical ramblings.
I'm a wykked gal from Delaware, a tiny state to which many of Hamlet's comments about Denmark seem relevant. (Note Poor Yorik's skull as my border)
Anyway, it sucks being a metalhead here. The metal scene here is pretty much dormant right now, aside from a few way cool radio programs and a metal TV show on public access that would kick Riki "Rat"man's sorry butt. In leiu of any place to hang out, I've created my own cyber-space for the entertainment of others who are cut off from their headbangin' fiends - er, um friends.
Enjoy!

What's New?
Here's a "head's up" on all the modifications and additions to this page.
08.30.2002 |
We're off and running now! This site has been in the works so long and has gone through so much fine tuning- it's pathetic!
11.13.2002 |
I've been fiddling with some of the graphics that wouldn't load, and they still don't look right, but, at least they're loading. I also just added a guestbook. Next March (?) will be Ruffage's 15th birthday- here is a link to the page I just threw together about it. (Just click on the present).
12.10.2002 |
I fixed those pesky graphics problems. Now I just need to convert all those yucky JPGs to GIFs...I just added the "gig" calendar. I thought I'd uploaded it previously, but, she was nowhere to be found. DOH!! Until I convert some linking images to GIFs, there will just be an ugly red dot/ text link to that page.
01.10.2003 |
The gig page has been updated.
02.01.2003 |
Today we lost seven extremely brave individuals at approximately 9 am Eastern Time. RIP Rick, Willie, Ilan, Mike, Dave, K. C., and Laurel. >On a happier note, Ruffage's 15th Birthday is coming up soon. I'll post some special news here within the next few days.
03.18.2003 |
Well at least I thought I had some special news at the time. I got tired of waiting for the next Big Shout to appear and gleaned some gig listings from other resources. If you're looking for something to do on Monday night, stop by The Pale Dog Tavern for 'Monday Nite Metal'. Bros. Payne Music is behind this new and worthy endeavor and the most current listings are on their page (check my Linx page for the address). Last night's St. Patty's Day special was incredible.
03.28.2003 |
I finally got around to doing much-needed major updating on the Linx page. Besides my obligatory oddball links, I've added several resources to the Timeless Lurks that may come in handy for some folks. I also updated the Labels links and included some major ones (how did I miss Roadrunner?!) that either had bad links five years ago when I originally composed the list or simply didn't exist. Did an update to the Gig Calendar.
06.16.2003 |
Wow! It's been a long time since I've left a message here. I've been incredibly busy. That does't mean that I've neglected my little piece of cyberspace though. I've kept as current as possible on the gig listings. I also added a new page that can be reached via the Ruffage page- it's a page devoted to 'Korefest'. I also fixed a problem with the guestbook. I must note with some sadness that the month of May saw the passing of someone at WVUD whom I had admired for several years. Bill Chambless hosted "Scratchy Grooves" which runs on Sundays from 7pm to 8pm (now hosted by Brian Lee). He played music recorded at the turn of the 20th century. He had a great style and a warm and welcoming voice. He will be missed.
10.11.2003 |
Most of my updating has been the Gig page, but, I'm hoping to revamp a few things while I have some extra time later this month. If you'd like me to add you to my Links page or have some info you'd think I'd be interested in, please feel free to contact me.
11.20.2003 |
Well, I finally did it- I revamped the Ruffage page. The Furies list was becoming a large enough project that it deserved its own page. Now there is a section for the Local 913 segment of my program on the first Ruffage page- because just adding links to the "Links" page was not sufficient. Enjoy! And as always- let me know what bugs I missed!
03.02.2004 |
Just in time for International Women's Day (March 8) - the new and improved Furies page! It's much easier to read, especially since there are over 100 entries! If you weren't aware, my " Message Board" link will take you to the " delawaremetal" Yahoo group. It's kind of a cozy little place to shoot the breeze about Delaware Metal bands, etc. I'd also like to take a moment to say Hallo! (für Mein Deutscher Freunden). Go me! As of February 23rd, I have been officially broadcasting for TEN years!!!

Every year at about this time of year, WVUD holds its annual fundraiser. Donations help us to maintain our radio station's equipment and furnishings. This year "Radiothon" will be held from April 16 to April 25, 2004. If you would like to contribute to this year's Radiothon, please feel free to make a donation via WVUD's home page (http://www.wvud.org/). There are many fine programs broadcast on WVUD from day to day, however if you would like to designate your donation for my particular program, please select "Ruffage" from the drop down list. Thank you.

I recently did an interview with Lucifera from Endemoniada Magazine- check out the results in issue 20.
05.27.2004 |
I just made some stickers for my program. If you'd like a free sticker, please send me your address.
08.01.2004 |
I sincerely apologize to listeners expecting to enjoy the sounds of Ruffage this past Saturday night (7-31-2004). I hope that the lack of a program was due to a miscommunication with rather than a gross misjudgement of character regarding my substitute.
08.20.2004 |
I have entered into an agreement with the folks at Delaware Metal to have them serve as host for my pictures since I don't have a lot of space here. They have just posted my WASP pictures from the August 4th show at The Bottle and Cork- check out their "Live Shots" page to see them!

If you're wondering why updates have been a little slow lately, it's because I've been spending waaay too much time at a new place in Claymont called The Rogue's Den. The Rogue's Den features plenty of gaming space, gaming goods, historical costumes, and a coffee bar. It used to be the old Crystal Ballroom. I have added special listings to the Gig page for events hosted by those busy folks at Ferret Records. They do a lot of mind-blowing stuff for our GothIndustrial, etc. kindred in the region. Look for the bold purple listings!
10.03.2004 |
Wow! Last night's show at the Ground Floor (with Carfax Abbey and Thunderbrew) was very good- I hope to have pictures up sometime this week. I just retooled the 'Linx' page- the spare formatting has been bugging me for a while now.

GOODIES!!! I have some pics of the freebies that I frequently mention on my radio program. First is a pic of my keychains . Here is the back of the keychain and a pic of the 1 inch pins. Here is a pic of the pin (a close up). Here is a picture and then another. of the stickers (2 styles). Remember, this is Official Ruffage swag, only avaiable from Metallikate. If you want to enter for the monthly swag drawing, drop me an e-mail.

I just got back from a trip to England and Ireland. I went with my mother, so, that meant Metal tourist activities were not happening. The best Metal experience that I had was in Ireland. I found a great little CD shop called 'The Sound Cellar' in Dublin. I would have to say that the strangest Metal experience I had was in London in the Buckingham Palace gift shop- as I was being rung up, the in-house music (obviously from a local radio station) was pumping out a live version of 'Paranoid' from Black Sabbath's early days.
05.20.2006 |
So excited about the Emperor reunion! I picked up a copy of Metal Hammer today and read yet another interview with Ihsahn about his 'The Adversary' album. Love this quote "The struggle of personal purpose or individuality is an ageless battle".

Do The 'Brew!! Thunderbrew is releasing their first DVD and they are celebrating with a release party this Saturday at The Pirate's Den in New Jersey! |
lost souls have found their eternal rest here.
