Dawn of the Dead
Wow is what I said when I first saw this movie. This was even before I saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But Dawn of the Dead is just about as gritty and realistic. This film was set in a shopping mall in rural Pennsylvania. With this setting of a shopping mall which anyone over the age of two months can relate to, it adds the realistic element to this great film. So now on to the summary.
The film opens with a news company franticaly getting the news out about the zombies walking the earth. A couple ends up getting out with the help of two Philly S.W.AT. team members in a helicopter. There is a scene about the S.W.A.T team where they are shown killing zombies in the ghetto houses of Philly. Well the 2 S.W.A.T team guys (the black guy Ken Forre plays in the Nickelodeon show Kennan and Kel.) end up meeting up with the couple and they fly to the mall. Well the two S.W.A.T team members end up exploring the mall and having fun while doing it. This is how most of the film goes. Everybody running about the mall to get supplies of food, ammo, and whatever else. They end up putting together a permanent residency put together with plywood.
Everybody begins to become worn down, tired, and very hot-tempered. They end up making stupid mistakes which causes the white S.W.A.T team member become bitten. Well he was bitten because he thought he was a hot-shot. He gets pushed around the wheelbarrow (wagon) for the rest of the film til he...
At the end of the film a biker gang raids the mall, screwing up everything for our survivors. A funny thing about the bikers is that they throw pies at the zombies.
I will not explain the ending, go see it for yourself.
