Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
This movie was incredible. The effects were insane and for a three and somewhat hours movie, it moved along really well. Chances are you've already seen it, because you're human. The acting in some places was iffy, but really a negligable amount (mostly when Aragorn is talking to the dead warriors). But i also believe Aragorn cheated. There's a rule somewhere which says you cant use a death army. "knock knock" "who's there?" "Big Death Army!" Yeah, no. he cheated. But anyway, it was astounding. definately one of the best of the year. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the

Bad Boys II
2003- Columbia **** of **** This movie was a good time. It was hilarious, it was action packed, and it was well done. Will Smith takes a departure from his usually clean cut self and does a really good job with himself. Martin Laurence is extremely funny. The chemistry between these two actors is amazing. The plot, though mindless, is good. There are thrills and grossouts and taboos in the movie that intentionally keep the audience on its feet. If you just want to go to the movies, not to think, but to just have a good time, this is what you want to see. The Movie: Tis great. Go see it. Finding Nemo
2003- Disney/Pixar **** of **** I love kids movies. Especially the pixar/computer animated ones. They are so enjoyable without being crude or violent or anything. They have the appeal to kids, and make it enjoyable enough to get an older audience. But i do have to say that this movie is really well done. Its sad, funny, great plot, great acting [i guess you can use that term...] But seriously, this one is really good. The Movie: Tis great, go see it. Bring a kid. 28 Days Later...
2003- Fox **1/2 of **** This movie really wasnt what i expected it to be. I thought it was going to be about zombies chasing people, something really scary that would give me the creeps. Instead, it ended up just weirding me out, especially when the main villians werent even zombies, but horny soldiers. I dunno. It wasnt bad, persay, just not scary. The Movie: Eh, why not? It ain't scary, but it's not half bad. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
2003- Disney **** of **** Yarr, this be one of the best movies i've seen in a while, me maties. The acting was well done, and the story shivered me timbers. I laughed until me eyes watered, and i was captivated by sheer enjoyability of the entire thing. I can not say anything bad about this movie, yarr, that be why i gave it the four stars. Long live the pirate monkey. The Movie: Go see it, scallywag, you savvy? The Italian Job
2003- Paramount **** of **** This is by far the best movie i've seen this year. It was engaging, and acted very well. The plot was great, and the comedy inserted into the story mingled perfectly with the action. A completely well rounded script, and a cast that worked very, very well off of one another. Very high on my list of good movies. If you go to the movies this soon, see this one (it's a lot better than the matrix reloaded was). But i dont know what he's talking about...I am obviouly the real Napster. The Movie: Tis great, go see it. The Matrix Reloaded
2003- Warner Brothers *** of **** The special effects of this movie were astounding, and what story we did get (there seemed to be a lack thereof), actually made you think. I wonder how many people saw through all of the eye candy and got what was being said. I feel, however, that i can not write a fair review of this movei until november, when the second half of the movie comes out. But in the mean time, the special effects were astounding, although they reused scenes too much, and some scenes (i.e. the burly brawl) looked more like video games for a bit. The unnecessary humor in unnecessary spots got to me as well. The Movie: Tis good. Go see it. X2
2003- Fox **** of **** Go see this movie. Stop reading this now and go see this movie. It had everything that a movie buff wants in an action movie and more. The acting was great. The plot was fantastic. And the effects? *drool*. They even left a great uncrappy opening for the third movie. The only thing I didnt like was teh lack of beast and gambit, but the opening with nightcrawler made up for it all. *redrool* The Movie: Tis Mindblowing. Go see it. now. |

Chicago
2003- Miramax *** of **** I liked this movie, i really did. It wasnt knock down outstanding in anyway, however. The mouth/music synch was off in places, and as for the movie itself, something just wasnt right about the telling the story half as a movie, and suddenly slipping into song. Suspension of disbelief only goes so far. I can see people bursting into song, but completely leaving the setting to dance in blackened stage rooms with mirrors and props and stuff, it just kind of ruined the flow for me. But it is a good movie none the less. The Movie: Tis good. Go see it. LOTR: The Two Towers
2002- New Line Cinema **** of **** This movie is absolutely THE best movie i have ever seen in theaters. It was action packed, it was funny, and dealt with MOST, but not all of the relevant points in the book. They might not have done everything according to the book (or even finished the book...i'm, kind of iffy on that), but at least they didnt butcher it. The visuals were amazing. The acting, though awkward in places, was superb. I loved it. And i'm definately going to see it again. The Movie: Tis GREAT. Go see it. Now. Before you fall into the hell of Mordor. |

2002- Touchtone **** of **** This movie is absolutely great. It has everything, comedy (laughed often), drama (*sniff*), and horror (Boo! crap, let me go change my pants. No, not really). But this movie put its best foot forward and it was one great foot. Better believe it. The acting was great; Mel Gibson was awesome, Joaquin Pheonix did great, Abigail Breslin was cute as can be, and Rory Culkin kicked his brother's Richie Rich ass. I can not stress how much i loved this movie. It could make me jump, then make me laugh two seconds later, only to have the bejesus i just collected scared out of me again. Go see it before word of mouth destroys it for you.The Movie: Tis great, go see it, now. Austin Powers in Goldmember
2002- New Line **** of **** Funny, funny movie. Sure, it had its flaws, ie Goldmember was hardly in the movie, but it was an Austin Powers movie. Sure, they recycled jokes, but they came right out and said that. And the dick and fart jokes are relyed upon a little too much, but it's not supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece. It set out to make you laugh and that is exactly what it did. It made me laugh hard. The Movie: Tis good, go see it. K-19:The Widowmaker
2002- Paramount **** of **** Great movie, I cant stress this enough. GO see this movie. Liam Neeson and Harrison Ford have great chemistry and pulled through like i expected them to; ay, better than i expected. The only problem i had with this movie was the in again/out again Russian accents of some of the minor players. Otherwise, the drama was great, and the acting was impecable. Definately one of the best of the year. The Movie: Tis great, go see it. Lilo & Stitch
2002- Disney **** of **** This has to be one of the best experiences i've had at the theater. Good movie, great company (i saw it with my three year old sister), and one hell of a good time. I was rather shocked at how many 'darker' issues were addressed in the movie, like death of parents and guns and violence, but they were handled great. I loved this movie. It was funny as hell, and I enjoyed it; it is definately one of the best films of the year so far. The Movie: Tis good, go see it. The Bourne Identity
2002- Universal ** of **** Good movie. This was not a waste of time, although it could have been better,in my opinion. The plot was a little sketchy, and could have been played upon and deepened, but it was ok as is. It ended kind of abruptly, and I feel they could have gone into the past more than they did. Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable. I had no problems with the acting, except for Julia Styles, who was just kind of there. A nice way to pass a couple of hours if you've seen the other major films in the theater. But I wouldn't see it twice on big screen. The movie: Tis Descent. Go see it, if you want to.Minority Report
2002- Fox **** of **** Great movie. I love movies that actually make you think and dont treat you like you are an intellectually inferior 12 year old. True, this movie isn't the hardest thing to decipher, but at least it kept you guessing. Personally, the whole glass walls/computers and pale-grayish everything kinda got to me after a while, but they were still good fx. The story was great and the acting (save a few scenes) was done well. The ending was good, although the very last scene was just kind of tucked on, with no real point, and should have been put somewhere else in the movie. The movie: Tis good. Go see it.Star Wars: Episode II- Attack of the Clones
2002- Lucasfilm *** of **** Yes, finally, redemption. Lucas definately made up for the let down that was The Phantom Menace (although Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn were very cool). This movie had the action, the plot, the expectations, and the ending that left me wanting to see Episode III NOW. Drawbacks: Manaquin Skywalker. He just didnt do it. His acting was ok, but it could have been much better. The movie: Tis good. Go see it. NOTE: This movie is even better the second time you see it. You arn't paying attention to all of the plot details, so it's more enjoyable, and goes by much quicker. Tis good. Go see it. Again. Spider-man
2002- Sony **** of **** Good News: Spider-man 2 is scheduled for 2004. Say "hurrah". Bad News: Due to a two different companies holding rights, the Kingpin, one of Spiderman's #1 adversaries can never be in the Spider-man franchise. Say "boo politics" This movie was great. It had action, nice fx, and a good storyline. Sure, it was hammy at spots, but this is a film based on a comic book, so it can be excused. Although it went kind of fast, the movie was well put togeather, and definately deserves your time. The only thing that continuously bothered me was the Green Goblin's mask: it made my jaw hurt (kind of like the scream mask, it makes me feel like their mouth is open all the time). It was also butt ugly. But that's my opinion. The movie: 'Tis good. Go see it. |
