| Many people have been or are killed for their culture or background. I used to know children who were very nice. But their parents were very strong christians. These children were not allowed to watch Disneys Alladin because the parents did not want to expose them to "evil"-translation: another religion or culture. This is wrong to me, even if there is the thought that people from another culture are "evil". The best way to deal with anything is to know a lot about it. If people do not learn about other human beings on this earth than they are just opening themselves to arrogance. It is that sort of arrogance that led to the crusades. It is that sort of arrogance that created Hitler and a country full of anti-semitism that eventually led to the Holocaust. The Holocaust wasn't all about Religion but it was about lack of education and that is one of the biggest problems today. |

| Kind of has a theme I think |
| When East met West, things didn't go down very well. When the Dutch invaded Indonesia they killed whole tribes. They treated the Indonesians like slaves and were very brutal. yet the Dutch once fought for their own independence and even at that time they believed in equality. Why did they treat the indonesian's like that when they already knew what it was like to be opressed? |
| French invaded Vietnam. They treated the Vietnamese like scum. The Vietnamese put up a great stuggle and it took twenty years for the French to over come it. They too treated the Vietnamese like the Dutch treated the Indoneisans. Workers in a Rubber plantation used to say that their bodies were useful ferterlizer, because the people in the factories were so badly treated that they often just died doing work and were simply buried under the rubber trees. |
| Right now, many of us know of the problems between Palestine and Israel. It is wrong to take sides I know, but on this one issue I feel that I am on the Palestinian side. Kids with rocks throwing at men with machine guns, that is unfair to me. Palestine is the only occupied territory left in the world! And the Israeles have done a poor job of awarding them basic human rights. |
