| Hi. I guess I'm the one who started this whole thing. I was the first bear to move in with Ms. Mary, and I'm one of the smallest bears. LAP for Short is smaller, and Lucky and I Love New York are a little bit bigger. DonnaBear is about the same size. In June of 1992, Ms. Mary graduated from Lakewood Community College with her two-year (AA) degree. Her sons gave her a big bouquet of flowers, and I was right in there with the flowers -- the only rose with no thorns. As I sit here, I measure three-and-nine-sixteenths inches tall, or maybe I am three-and-nine-sixteenths inches high. I'm never quite sure whether I have to be standing up to be tall. Wait a minute. I have just come to a conclusion about this high versus tall notion. I am tall because I get measured up and down. I am high because I am on the top of a bookshelf. Some of us are not tall. Those ones are long because they are laying down and get measured end-to-end. They are also low because they are on one of the shelves. We overflowed the top of the bookshelves. How about that? In the twelve short years since I started Ms. Mary's collection, we have taken full control of the tops of the bookshelves and started moving down! |
