| I bet you thought "T" was for "Teddy" but it's not. The "T" is for "Tea" because Ms. Mary found me in a tea shop in the mall. I could say "finally found me" but it's not her fault it took so long. I am so little it is hard to hear me talking outside your head, and even harder to hear me inside your head. The Bookshelf Menagerie sends out lots of good thoughts about Ms. Mary and I wished so hard to go there. I kept thinking as loud as I could, "Here I am, Ms. Mary. Come and get me." This mall is far from Ms. Mary and the Bookshelf, so she doesn't come here very often. I was beginning to think she would never come. Finally one night, she came to the mall to have dinner with some friends. After dinner, she walked slowly through the mall back to her car. She walked by the tea shop. I thought as loud as I could "Here I am, Ms. Mary. Come and get me." She stopped by the window and looked in. She saw bears. She walked in. She saw the birth month bears, and I am one of the September bears, and her birthday is in September. She stood still. And then I think she finally heard me. She picked me up and held me up close to her ear. I had to swallow a big lump in my throat, and I still couldn't say anything. I was afraid Ms. Mary would put me down and leave. One little tear slipped out of my eye. Ms. Mary saw it and said, "You're the one I'm looking for." And here I am. |
