| My name could also be "Rescued Rabbit" because Ms. Mary rescued me from the bargain table at the USC Bookstore summer clearance sale. She was surprised to see a stuffed one on the table, and then she didn't have any money with her so she had to leave me while she went and got some money to pay for my room and board. I could have given the Bookstore people an arm or a leg, but they wanted to part with all of me all at once. It was hot in the sunshine and nobody seemed interested in me, which was good because I wanted to go home with Ms. Mary -- we'd already shared a big long hug -- and bad because it is not good to be a stuffed one that nobody wants. Ms. Mary was a little worried that someone would come and carry me off while she was gone. When she saw my bright pink fur from way down the walkway, she made a beeline for me and picked me up and hugged me again. When I got to the bookshelf, everybody helped me dust myself off and fluff my fur and straighten my bow, so I wouldn't look like a bargain bunny any longer. The bookshelf is a very nice place to be. |
