So Ms. Mary just stood there hugging me and rubbing my back while Ms. Trina looked at all the stuff on the table. My heart was beating harder and louder than it ever had before. I wanted to stay with Ms. Mary forever. Other people -- big ones and little ones -- had poked me and squeezed me and tickled my ears and my paws ... but nobody had held me like Ms. Mary did. When Ms. Trina walked away from the table, Ms. Mary gave a big sigh and held me a little bit away from her chest. She looked at the young woman and sighed again.
