GOOD LUCK TO THE APRIL MCATers!! Officer elections will be online. Instructions for elections are: elections will begin this Fri, April 22. If you would like to be a candidate please send in a speech/bio for yourself including the position that you are running for and why you would be a good officer in that position. The speech/bio will be sent out on Friday and the elections will close on the following Tuesday night at 8:00PM. The positions available are President, Vice President, Treasurer, and the the secretary position can be filled by two people. If you have not and will not be enrolled in premed type classes in the next term then you are not eligible for running. Candidates should be through at least a year of Mercer�s Premed type classes such as, physics or chemistry. Feel free to ask questions, contact Jason.
Briefly, our upcoming events include making baskets for Hospice patients, April 8 at 10:00 am in Java City; April 22--April MCAT.
The BODIES...The Exhibition trip has been postponed to April 28, so that we can save money and get the weekday $10 student discount. We shall leave on Friday the 28th at 3:00PM from the Willet Parking lot in order to beat the traffic to the Atlanta Civic Center. We will travel by carpool and all students and even your friends and parents are invited. Jason will order him know if you want to attend and if you would like to drive before lunch on Wednesday. Welcome to the Merpmed website! Merpmed is a student-run organization of Mercer University students interested in pursuing a career in the health sciences. The pre-med track consists of various courses including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Although the majority of our members are pre-med students, we welcome pre-vet, pre-dentistry, pre-pharmacy, and other pre-health students to join. Freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior students are strongly encouraged to join and get involved in Merpmed. Meetings are held once a month in the Willet Science Center Lecture Hall. Look for meeting flyers in WSC and around campus. We hope that you will attend our next meeting to learn more about us!
Our Mission Statement
Merpmed aims to inform pre-med students about the application process, Medical College Admissions Test, admissions process, various medical schools, and a career in medicine. Being a member of Merpmed is a great opportunity for you to meet and talk with other pre-med students. During the 2003-2004 school year, Merpmed members shadowed with third and fourth year Mercer University School of Medicine students at a local hospital, learned about the medical school application process, and heard from admissions staff members, a pathologist, a dentist, and a member of the U.S. Army Health Care Recruiting Team, just to name a few. Also, they attended a tour of the Mercer School of Medicine, learned about the interview process through Career Services, and participated in the Mercer Overnight's Mix and Mingle sessions with high school students.
