of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity inc. was first chartered at Roosevelt College in 1948. A total of four lines were initiated at Roosevelt College. They were:

Roosevelt College subsequently closed leaving Sigma Epsilon Chapter in reserve.
In 1960 Lionel H. Newsome, then president of Barber-Scotia College, began a campaign to bring fraternities and sororities to the school.
In 1966 the first group of students attending Barber-Scotia College were initiated into the fraternity through The Lambda Psi Chapter at Livingston College. They were:

Another line in 1967 and one more in 1968 were the last of students attending Barber-Scotia College to be initiated at Lambda Psi Chapter. They were:

During this period of time the brothers worked feverishly to establish a charter at Barber-Scotia College.
On December 7, 1968, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity inc. issued a charter to Barber-Scotia College to initiate men under the chapter Sigma Epsilon. The charter line was inducted that same day, December 7, 1968, which consisted of the following:

Since its inception The Stormy Chapter, as it is affectionately known, has enjoyed a rich history.
The Sigma Epsilon Chapter has attracted men who have elevated the standard of greekdom at Barber-Scotia College. The chapter has been responsible for activities that have fostered, amoungst the students and the community, a feeling of pride.
Campus and community clean up, sponsered dinners, and blood drives are a few of the projects that the chapter has sponsered. The brothers of The Stormy Chapter have since gone on to become pillars in their communities.
Academically The Stormy Chapter has various accolades to its name. Maintaining the highest GPA amoungst the greek population at Barber-Scotia College as well as within The 6th District, home of The Stormy Chapter.
The Sigma Epsilon Chapter has become a staple of the Barber-Scotia College family. It welcomes the challenges of the new century not only at BSC but in the world community as well.
