Mykonos

When Narcissus drowned looking at his reflection in a pool of water, his spirit is said to have been reincarnated on the island of Mykonos. Though there isn't much proof of his existence, one visit on this island will prove to you that Narcissus and his followers are alive and well on Mykonos!!! This island is an epicentre of chic international social life.

Mykonos is 5 1/2 to 7 1/2 hours from Athens (Piraeus) by ferry with daily connections during summer to all the other major Cyclades. It is a cosmopolitan island and in high season, accomodations are scarce and expensive.

For most visitors the word "beach" is synonymous with the famous nude "Paradise Beach" and the mostly gay nude "Super Paradise Beach".

The second time visiting this island, our accomodations were simply awesome. With the help of a cousin who is part owner of a hotel on Mykonos, we rented a house right in the centre of town. Right outside our doorstep was the hustle and bustle of nightlife, while after beach (happy hour) drinks were served on our roof top with a view of the incoming ferries and yachts.

A view en route to the port for yet another island departure...
