Overseas trained doctors should note that, though the registration with
the Australian medical council and immigration are inter related, they
are two separate processes.
There has been recent changes in the regulations and currently
doctors without permanent resident status can appear for registration
examination ( AMCE).
A candidate who is eligible for registration with the medical council
may apply for immigration in to Australia to obtain Permanent resident
status , if they are eligible or obtain a work permit if they secure a
job and does not want to settle in Australia.
