| AIIMS POSTGRADUATE COURSES Selection Selection for the Junior and senior Residency in made twice a year i.e. in January and July. The session commences on 1st July respectively each year.

Pstgraduate students and Registrars has been replaced by a Residency Scheme comprising of Junior Residents/Junior Demonstrators (*foremerly house surgeons and postrgaduate students) and Seniior Residents Senor Demosnsrtators (Registrars & Tutors). The candidates joining for MD.MS degree courses shall be called junior Residents in the clinical disciplines and Junior Demosntrators in pre and paraclinical disicplines.

NOTE: There are no fixed number of seats for Ph.D Course.
M.D & M.S (3 Year Course) Eligibility
Method of selection The candidates who have obtained 55% marks in aggregate in all the MBBS examinations and have completed at least one years internship and have not more than 2 failures in MBBS examinations will be called for a theory test. The selection shall be made entirely on the basis of performance of the candidates in theory test. The test will consist of only one General Paper containing multiple choice type questions covering all the subjects at the MBBS level. The duration of the patper will be 3 hours. The approximate allocation of marks in the question paper to various subjects will be as follows:
There is negative marking for wrong and multip[le answers in the test. At the end of first six months of the admission, each Junior Resident/Junior Demonstrator will be given objective clinical assessment. In case his/her performance is not satisfactory, his/her registration may be cancelled. Reservation of seats
Procedure for Selection to the categories (ii) and (iii) above is :
Emoluments The Junior Residents (joining M.D/M.S courses) shall be paid as under: First year : Rs 2630/- Second year : Rs 2705/- Third year : Rs 2780/- These rates are inclusive of all allowance including N.P.A. Duties and responsibilities Duties and responsibilities of Junior Residents/Junior Demonstators (joining M.D/M.S. courses) shall be fixed by the Institute from time to time. They will be rewquired to perform such work as may be needed in the legitimate interest of patient care in the hospital. Hours of work Continous active duty for Junior Rsdicents/Junior Demonstrators joining M.D./M.S. courses shall not normally exceed 12 hours subject of exigencies of work. The Junior Residents (joining M.D/M.S. courses) will be allowed one weekly holiday by rotation. The Junior Residents will also be requied to be on call duty not exceeding 12 hours at a time. Leave During the tern of employment the Junior Residents/Junior Demonstrators shall be entitled to 30 days leave in the first year and 36 days each in the second and third year. Date of joining Selected candidates must join the courses on the date stipulated in the letter of selection. Admission of the candidates, who fail to join the courses by the date stipulated in the letter of selection shall automatically stand cancelled and such seats shall then be offered to the candidates on the waiting list in order of merit. Medical examination The selection of each Junior Resident/Junior Demonstrators will be subject to medical fitness. No selected Junior Resident/Junior Demonstrator will be permitted to pay the fee and join the course unless declared medically fit by the Medical Board appointed by the institute. The decision of the Medical Board shall be final. Submission of plan of protocol of thesis All of the postgraduate students registered for MD/MS courses after enrolling for a degree shall be required to ger his/her plan of thesis approved through his/her guide within four months of his/her enrolment and submitted to the Academic Section. Submission of thesis The last date for submission of thesis to the Examination Section for the students registered for M.D./M.S. degree will be 30th june for appearing at the December examination and 30th November for appearing in May Examination. The Professor-in-charge (Examinaiton section) has the discretion to accept the thesis in exceptional cases beyond these dates within a maximum period of 15 days. No extension beyond this period will be allowed under any circumstances. Contract Each Junior Resident/Junior Demonstrator will be on contract service ofr a peiod of three years and will be required to execute bond on a mon-judicial sttamped paper of Rs.2/-. A copy of the bond to be executed is given below. The bond duly completed in all respect will be required to be submitted at ehe time of joining, failing which the candidate will not be allowed to join the course. Agreement for Junior residents/Junior demonstrators (Three Years Courses) ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT, made this .day of .. One thousand nine hundred and ..Between Dr ..S/oD/o R/o . (Hereinafter called the Junior Resident/Junior Demonstrator) on the one part and AIIMS. (Hereinafter called the Institute through its Director) on the other part. WHEREAS the Institute intends to appoint the party of the first part as First/Second/Third Year Junior Resident/Junir Demonstrator for a period of Three years commencing form the .. day of . 199 .. AND WHER AS it has been agreed by and between the parties herto that the Junior Resident/Junior Demostrator shall serve the Institute on the terms and condidtion herein cotaind.
Provided always thet direcotr of the Institute may in lieu of any notice herein provided for give Junior Resident Junior Demonstrator a sum equivalent to the amount of his/her salary for thirty days or shorter notice that thirty days or shortet notice than thirty day if it pays him a sum equal to the amount of his/her salary for the period by which such notice falls short of thiety days. The salsary for the purpose of its privisons shall mean the salary of the Junior.
M.Ch Eligibility
Age Limit 35 years relaxable in case of S.S.S.T. candidates up to maximum of 5 years. Duration of courses M.Ch. Cardio thoracis & Vascular Surgery. Neursurgery and Pediatric Surgery A minimum period of three academic years. M.Ch Urology. A minimum period of two academic years Method of selection Selection for M.Ch Courses will be made against the post of senior resident selection is through a 3 stage performance evaluation. Stage :- Candidates will appear for entrance examination test of 90 minutes in this subject the candidates has applied. Stage :- Based on the performacne in the theroy test, three times the numbers of candidatee will be called for departmental assessment interview. The faculty of the department shall judge the suitabiliy of the candidatee keeping int view the practicular knowledge of the subject ability to attainn high academic level in the particular disicipline aptitude for research and teaching. Stage III:- The candidates will be finally interviewed on the fourth day by the selection committee under the the chairmanship of the director. Emoluments M.Ch. Candidates who are selected for the post of senior residents willbe paid emoluments as applicable to their post (Rs. 3150-3250-3350) Date of Joining Selected candidates must join the courses on the date stipuplated in the letter of selection. Admission of the candidates, who fail to join the courses by the date stipulated in the latter of selection shall automatically stand cancelled and such seats then be offered to the candidates on the waiting list in order of merit. Submission of Dissertation The candidates admitted to M.Ch. courses before being permitted to appear in the examination shallb e required to furnish to he examination section, proof of having undertaken research of high which may be in form of manuscript of original articles fit for publishing or already accepted by an approvbed journal or he she may present evidence of having published papers of research value in the subject concerned in journals recognised by the Institute of this purpose. Note:- The registration of those candidates who not submit the disseration within 3 mounth prior to the commencement of the examination (31 st January for May examination and 31St August for December examination) will automatically stand canclled. M.Ch Eligibility A candidate should have MBBS degree and have completed at least one years compulsory internship They must have obtained 55% marks in aggregate in MBBS examination and not more than two failures. Duration of courses. A minimum period of 5 academic years is the duration of the course for those registering after MBBS degree and completion of one year compulsory internship. The candidates selected for these courses will spend first six mounth in the superspecialities opted. For these courses will spend first six mounth in the superspecialities opted. For at the end of six mounth there will be a department examination to assess. The suitability of the candidate to purse training in the superspecially. On sucessfully qualifying in the assessment , the candidates would proceed to the next phase and this period would be included as a part of the full course in case a candidates fails to qualifying in the qualify in the assessment or decides to discontinue the course, he/she would be given a certificate of six mounth Junior Residency. The next phase will consists of period of one year devoted to a course in principles of Surgery. It will consits of predetermined course of didactic teaching and clinical work concerned with the basis principles of surgery. At the end of this period i.e.e 11/2 years after selection for this course . Method of selection The method of selection for these candidats will be the same as in the case of MD/MS course. The candidates applying for direct 5 years. M.Ch. courses can apply for one more subject (MD/MS/5yr) M.Ch) in the same application form. D.M. (2 years courses) Eligibiliy Candidates must possess M.D,. degree Medicine of Pediatrics of this Institure or any other University or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Institute for this purpose. Candidates with more than 2 failures in M.D. will not be considered. Age limit 35 yerars. Relaxable in case of S.C. S.T. candidate up to maximum of 5 years. Duration of courses The minimum duration is two (2) academic years for courses in Cardiology, Endocrinology. Gasttroenterology, Nephrology and Neurology. Method of Selection. Selection for D./M courses will be made against the post of senior Residents selection is through 3 stage pervormance as given under M.Ch. (2/3 years courses) Emoluments D.M. candidates who are selected for the post of senior residents will be paid emoluments as applicable to their post. (Rs. 3150-3250-3350) Submission of dissertation. The candidates admitted to DM courses before being permitted to appear in the examination shall be required to furnish to the examination section, proof of having undertaken research of high order whichmay be in the form of manuscript or original articles fit for apublication or already accepted by an approved journal or he she may present evidence of having published papers of research value in the subject concerned in journals recognised by the Institure for this purpose. Note : The registration of those candidates who do not submit the disseration within 3 mounth prior to the commencement of the examination (31st Janury for May examination and 31st August for December examination will automatically stand canclled.) M.H.A. (Master in Hospital Administration) Eligibility For medical gradutes 1) A candidates must posses MBBS or eqivalent degree with three years experience in Hospital 2) A minimum of 5 years experience as general practitioner.3) The candidates should have secured at least 55% marks in aggrregate in all MBBS examinations. 4) Candidates with more than 2 failures in MBBS examination will not be eligible for admission to M.H.A. course. A deduction of one present and three precent respectively shall be made for having failed. Once or twice in any of the MBBS professional examination for calculating the percentage of marks for eligibility determination. For non medical graduates. 1) Non medical gradutes will only be consideration for sponsored seat 2) a candidates must possess Bachelors degree of a recognised University in Arts. Or Science or Nuring of Bussiness. Administration of Commerce of Engineering of any techinical subject with at least 60% marks 3) admission to M.H.A. corse. A deduction of one percent and three percent respectively shall be calculating the percentage of marks for eligibility determination 4) a minimum experience of having held responsible administrative position for a perod of not less than seven years is essential. Duration of course For medical gradudates :- A minimum of two academic years For non medical gradudates :- A minimum of three academic years. Non medical persons during the first years of their registration shall attend an orientation courrse in order to acquaint themselvesl with the working of the hospital including its various section and laboratories. Methods of Selection Selection is through a 3 stage pefrormance similar to that M.Ch. (2-3 course) Submission of plan of protocol of thesis All the candidates registering for MHA degvree course shall have submit the plan of hesis to the academic section within six mounth from the date of registration. Submission of thesis The last date for submission of thesis tot he examination of section for the students registered for M.H.A. will be 31st August for appearing in the december examination and 31st january for appening in may ezamination.The professor-in-charge (exam) has the discretion to accept the thesis in exceptional cases beyond these dates within a maximum period of 15days.No extension beyond this period will be allowed under any circumstances. Method of selection The admission to various PH.D.courses will be made on the basis of an entrance examination.After the writen examination,the successful candidate will be assessed by thedepartmental faculty in order to judge the suitability of the candidates keeping in view the candidates practical knowledge of the subject,ability to attain the high academic level in particular discipline and aptitude for research and teaching and those finally recommended shall be interviewed by the selection committee under the chairmanship of the director.
