AIIMS paper leak: HC seeks status report

The Delhi Police has been directed by the Delhi High Court to
submit a status report on the investigations into allegations of
leakage of the question paper of the All India Post Graduate
Medical Entrance Examination that was conducted by the All India
Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on January 6 this year.
The police had reportedly arrested a few persons earlier in this
connection.

Justice Manmohan Sarin issued the direction on a petition
alleging that the question paper had been leaked and that the
results should be cancelled. He also issued notices to the Union
Government, AIIMS and the Delhi Police on the petition. However,
he stated he would not put a stay on the counselling that
commenced on Tuesday for the seats.

The petition claimed that due to the leakage, seven out of 10
toppers are from the King George's Medical College (KGMC),
Lucknow, and GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. The petitioners
pointed out that as many as 70 students of the KGMC were
successful in the exam.

The petitioners said that two days prior to the exam, some
people offered them the duly solved question paper for Rs
75,000. And on January 6 when they took the exam, the paper
contained the same questions.
