THIS DESERVES YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.
This could be the biggest fiasco to affect the Medical Education
System.
The results of the All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Exams
conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences are out and
Out of the top 100 ranks 71 are from the single ,Lucknow centre.
That’s because the solved papers were in circulations in the
hostels of King Georges Medical College, Lucknow a day before
the actual date of the exams.
With a total of about 150 such “paid” admissions with each person
paying around 5-10 lacs of rupees the amount involved is big
enough for even the AIIMS official to say that alls fair.
With the exam being the amongst the toughest a percentage of
around 75% is enough for one to be a topper but the merit this
year is close to 90% , a percentage which is unattaintable fairly
keeping in account the negative marking system.
Top news channels (star and zee)carried a news items on the 5th
of Jan (a day before the exams) that the paper had been leaked
and some arrests had been made in that connection but AIIMS
authorities maintained that the paper was not out.
Most of the “toppers” of this exam are below average students ,in
fact majority of the top 100 rank holders have not even qualified
(attained 50% marks) in the much easier state level UP post
graduate medical entrance exams organized by Sanjay Gandhi post
graduate institute of medical sciences, Lucknow. Few mind
boggling realities are ……5th rank holder has passed MBBS in 10
attempts. People with similar ranks has equal number of
supplementaries in MBBS in KGMC,Lucknow. 71 selections in top ranks
from SP Hostel of KGMC which till last year had 3-4 selections at
the maximum.
Its difficult to digest that around 200 out of a total of 1600
selections (all india) are from KGMC,Lucknow. In fact a few hours
before the exam the paper was being sold for a mere 15,000/-.
We all thought and hoped that the exam would be cancelled till
they actually published the results.
With most authorities turning a blind eye its upto the media to
bring the truth to light and restore some santity to the “noble”
profession
