The Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital (GBPH)
The GBPH was established in 1964 and has turned into a prestigious
institution in the country as well as the whole of Asia. The
hospital is a tertiary care referral center. meant to provide
superspeciality level Medical and Surgical facilities in the fields
of Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery,
Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal surgery, and Psychiatry. It
presently has 481 beds (1995). A new 110 bedded ward block is near
completion.
GBPH also hosts an Electron Microscope and Oxygen Concentrator, and
a Nursing Home providing care to VVIPs and paying patients. The
Library provides Medlars reference facilities and the kitchen was
recently upgraded in consultation with Hospital Consultancy
Services.
181,838 patients attended the GBPH OPD and 8,781 were admitted and
treated, in 1994-95.
