KHALI CO    ( KC )
b. November 2000  Calico spayed dsh  (Carmen x Scrounge) KC is a shy quiet and very private cat.  She is excellent in helping to raise young kittens and will even allow then to "nurse" on her at times (although she was spayed at 4 months). Any kittens however soon discover that they will be very clean kits with KC around.  Not all that active, but she will chase a laser pen light.  KC is not happy with being picked up and held but does like to be petted.   She loves to gnaw on your fingers and does not realize that she is biting down too dawgawn hard.
MamaCat
Bk/W spayed dsh  (unknown parentage)I don't know how old Mama is for sure.  I do know that she is at least 9 yrs old.  She is our Matriarch and has had I don't know how many litters.   Always an outside cat but not totally a feral.  She was friendly but still stand-offish.  This last winter was pretty cold for a girl of her years and one night I opened the door to go outside and she just zipped right in and made herself at home.  She is just as happy as can be inside, although she does like to go out at least once a day if it is fairly warm.  Mama  is not a fighter to speak of but she will not tolerate disrespect by any of the younger crowd and will not hesitate to box ears.
MICHAEL
b. May 2001  B/W neutered male dsh  (Carmen x Scrounge) Michael is a young cat and very full of himself.  Still at the stage of being hyperactive and very playful.  He loves to be held and fussed with.  Loves to chase things, esp. the laser light.   He loves to jump in your lap and go to sleep.  Terribly curious about everything and has learned how to pull open drawers and cupboards.  Michael is a sweet cat but super active, a real handful.
MYSTRY
b. November 2000  Black Tortie spayed dsh  (Carmen x Scrounge) Mystry is a very private cat, quiet and gentle with us.  Mystry for quite some time didn't like to be picked up and held but lately she has decided
that this is pretty neat and is getting to be a cuddlebug.  She is rather shy and does not like noise and confusion.  She has been fantastic with tiny kittens and will allow them to nurse on her.
PANDA
b. November 2000  Bk/W neutered dsh  (Carmen x Scrounge) Panda has very unique markings, the very tips of both ears are white.  He and his littermates (VESTER, RUSTI, KC, and MYSTRY) were born on our deck.  Carmen (Mom) allowed me to put them into a new box with more padding from the cold.  However Daryl thought it was too cold for them so we started bringing them in at night and putting them out first thing in the morning with Carmen. One morning they just didn't make it back outside (hee hee).  Panda is very very active and will play at the drop of a hat.  He loves chasing a laser pen light and will climb the walls after it.  He likes to be held and petted and will give love nips.  He does play pretty rough and has a tendency to use his claws to grab and hold your hand.  He is super curious and will find a way to open cupboards and snoop.
RUSTIQUE   (RUSTI)
b. November 2000  Tortie spayed dsh  (Carmen x Scrounge) Rusti is a bit on the chunky side but not bad.  She is a loving cat and has helped raise very young kittens, sort of a surrogate mom and will allow
kittens to nurse on her.  She is a quiet cat, she will play but not roughly and doesn't handle being roughed up.  Somewhat shy, she does like to be talked to and petted although she isn't crazy about being held.
BADGER
b. September 2001  Bk/W Tuxedo spayed dsh Badger was found when she was about 3 wks old, abandoned and half buried in a field probably by her mother.  Many problems with her, she has poor eyesight on the right side and is not a genius by any standards.  She is just "BADGER".  Love her dearly and all the other cats make major allowances for her.  A cute little sweetheart, who has bonded with Daryl.  She is our "Special Needs" baby and we wouldn't give her up for the world.

CARMEN
b.  Spring 1997   Calico spayed dsn   (MamaCat x unknown male)Carmen is something else.  She finally, after several litters of kittens, decided to try to become a house cat.  She is very spooky and several times a day will have to go outside for some elbow room.  She really wants to try to be a lapsitter but hasn't been able to trust that far yet.  I can pick her up for short periods and in time she will settle down even more.  She still has strong feral instincts.   She would trust me with her babies and seemed to understand that I wouldn't hurt them, but she wasn't trusting enough to let me come close to her.  Before this though, she would growl and hiss if I came within 50 ft of her kits.  It took almost 2 full years to get her to allow me to touch her.
CHIP
b. Aug. 1991  Grey/white tabby  neutered dsh.Hubby Daryl was visiting some friends who had hand raised a litter of orphan kittens.  One of these kept climbing into his lap and whispered "take me home, I have chosen you."  Daryl of course listened to this :)  This kitten rode all the way home sitting on his shoulder, and of course his name just had to be CHIP -on-the-shoulder.
Chip is a very quiet, dignified gentleman.  Not demanding except when it's time for breakfast treat or the food dishes are empty and then he just quietly stares at you or sits in front of the puter monitor.  He is not crazy about being held, although he tolerates it.  Enjoys being petted but only when HE wants it.  Chip is great with kittens and has helped raise several.  Does NOT enjoy roughhousing with any of the other cats and will run from them unless cornered.

GIDGET
b. mid 1999  Black Tortie spayed dsh (Bk/W female x Scrounge)  Gidget at 6 weeks had become separated from her litter or was the only one.  We found her up in my car engine crying.  She was scared but ready to fight all the way.  It took several weeks for her to settle down and not hiss and spit at the dogs.  Up until the past few weeks she has been very standoffish, right now she wants (demands) to be held and petted preferably when I am on the computer.  A very independent girl all the way, she does have the TUDE.  She does not like to fight and will run from the other cats if they confront her.
