SCANNER gone to the BRIDGE Jan. 2002 b. Oct 1997 Orange/W tabby spayed dsh Scanner and her littermate (SIERRA) were dumped in a subdivision at around 3 months of age, during the winter. It was cold and wet and it was obvious that she and Sierra were raised inside as they were very cold and did not have good outside coats. Scanner got her name from the fact that she learned how to turn on the police scanner and did so frequently. She started out with a feisty temperament but later would run from the other cats, which delighted the others and they would chase and bully her every chance they get. She didn't really enjoy being picked up but with gentleness and a bit of head rubbing she settled down and enjoyed it. She would on occasion jump up in your lap for petting. Good mouser, she would sit for hours if she heard one and would catch it if it was foolish enough to poke it's nose out. She always wanted to go outside and would escape if given the opportunity. We miss her quiet humor.

SHOOTER b. June 1998 siamese snowshoe tabby neutered dsh Shooter is an orphan, found in a wood pile as a baby. He has several strikes going against him. VERY near sighted and weak in the hindquarters, a bit on the clumsy side. Couldn't catch a mouse if it was sitting in the food dish. He got his name due to the fact that I had one too many jello "shooters" and fell in love with him. He is a very gentle cat and loves and wants/needs to be held and petted by anyone. He loves to chase things but rarely catches them due to his poor eyesight. He is an absolute love although he's not terribly smart.
SIERRA b. Oct 1997 orange/W tabby spayed dlh Sierra and her littermate (SCANNER) were dumped in a subdivision at around 3 months of age, during the winter. It was cold and wet and it was obvious that she and Scanner were raised inside as they were very cold and did not have good outside coats. Sierra was named after the Sierra Club as she is always checking out wildlife (birds etc) and loves chasing the fish in the aquarium. Sierra is a gentle cat and loves to be held and brushed, she also gives head bonks. She is a bit on the vain side as she is VERY proud of her long hair and fluffy tail. Sierra is a good mouser and will wait patiently for a mouse to get careless. She is, however, another escape artist and would love to be outside. She loves to chase the light from a laser pen and will do it as long as you can keep doing it, she will also chase things tied to a string.
TASHA b. May 2001 Black Tortie unspayed dsh (Mamacat x Scrounge) Tasha is just now coming out of her shell. She used to be very very shy and quiet. She is now enjoying being held and loved and is becoming a pest in that respect. She does not like to be roughed up and would go back to being shy and spooky if this happened. She is a very sweet young girl and does like to be held and petted, esp while you are in the bathroom.
TOPAZ b. May 1996 Red Tuxedo Tortie spayed dsh (Bk/W feral x unknown male)Topaz was one of a litter of 4. Found at 1 day old, the rest of the litter was already dead. She had an uphill struggle all the way. Bottle fed and held constantly for the first few weeks to retain her body temperature. She is a tough little gal and was the only cat to challenge MISCHIEF. She does not tolerate being picked up or held down and will go berserk if you try it. She does, however, choose the time to be held and enjoys it, but ONLY when SHE wants it. Topaz is very spooky and any little noise will scare her. She gives head bonks and love nips. She does like to be next to me in bed under the covers but if anyone else shows up she will leave.
TUFF STUFF (Tuffer or Tuff) b. spring 2000 Orange tabby neutered dsh (Mama cat x Scrounge) Very wild at 6 wks but he had fallen into a bucket of used motor oil and had to be caught and washed off.. He seemed to settle down quite quickly after that, although he got his name from the idea that he "thought" he was a tuff cat. He is an absolute sweetheart who loves to be held and petted and will come and ask (demand) to be picked up and held. He gives headbonks and love nips (these can be a bit on the rough side) He doesn't like to fight and very tolerant of other cats, especially the younger ones. Tuff would draw back into a feral state if not handled gently, no loud voices or physical reprimands.
VESTER b. November 2000 Bk/W Classic Tuxedo neutered dsh (Carmen x Scrounge)Vester is also a very active cat and loves chasing a laser pen light. He has pretty well bonded with me. He is also very free with his claws (attention getting). Loves and demands to be held and cuddled. Vester thinks he needs to protect me from the evil shower and is either being a peeping tom or yelling at me to hurry up and get out of the dang water. Very very mischevious and is always getting into drawers and cupboards.
MISCHIEF - has found a new home with a family with a major mouse problem and they absolutely adore her. B. May 1995 White/grey tabby Siamese cross, spayed dsh. (MAMA CAT x unknown male) Mischief started out as a feral but was "rescued" at around 4 -5 wks. Raised by CHIP. She was a hefty girl, weighing in at around 25 lbs. This was our "Queen bitch." She ruled her domain with tooth and claw, believe me, she packed a wallop. Mischief loves (no -- demands) to be held and petted. Hates kittens but doesn't really hurt them except for knocking them across the room. All other cats, with the exception of TOPAZ, gave her a very wide berth. She is a fantastic mouser and has even managed to catch a few birds (although I have no idea how she has done it through the fencing).
APATSHE - BRIDGE baby Mar. 21, 2002 b. September 2001 Calico spayed dsh (Carmen x Scrounge)Fell in love with this little girl on sight. When she was brought into the house for the first she just fit right in. All the other kits spent 3 to 5 days just hiding and making periodic forays into the household community. Not her, she was afraid of nothing and no one. Very very playful and spent most of her time attacking poor Badger who did NOT like it for quite awhile but now really misses her buddy. She was so very special and all the cats miss her.
TREY SPOT b. spring 2000 Bk/W neutered dsh (Mama cat x Scrounge)Trey was by far the wildest kitten I have ever worked with. One morning I put down food for his brother (TUFF) and his mother. When he came up to eat he looked like someone had dunked him in real gooey, thick mud. It was totally caked on and dried, so he had to be caught and washed off. It was a fight all the way, first to catch him, then to wash him and finally to get him to hold still enough to get dried off. He was a spitting, hissing, biting monster. After much work and drawn blood, Trey finally decided he was safe and the petting actually felt pretty darn good. He is now a cuddle bug who loves to be held, cuddled and petted. He gives headbonks and gentle love-nips. Trey gets his name from the 3 black patches (spots) on his underside. One under his chin, another under his barrel and the last on his belly.
