TTT Horse Trials 2008 Report

What is TTT?

For those new to the HRCAV, "TTT" stands for Top Team Trophy. Each year the HRCAV runs a teams events in all the equestrian disciplines that come under the HRCAV banner - Dressage, Showing, Horse Trials, Combined Training, Showjumping and Navigation.

So what is a TTT event?

First of all, it is not an event strictly for the "best" riders. Classes are held at all levels from 5 through to 1/Advanced. Teams are a minimum of 3 people, but usually have 4 people. Scoring for each discipline varies but generally the 3 best scores at the event are combined to produce a "team" score. Teams are then placed in order of merit, with the winning team gaining the opportunity to hold the event in the next year. There are also prizes for individual section winners.

How do I go about it?

So now that you are all excited about competing for Mentone at a TTT event , here's how you go about it.

  1. Normally you would need to have done either an appropriate number of events and had your log stamped. This is not qualification in the sense that you need to have placed, but to ensure you aren't "hiding" in order to try and compete at a lower level than you actually are. Alternatively, if you can't get out to comps you would need to be re-assessed (or assessed for the first time) in that discipline by a level assessor within 3 months of the close of entries.

  2. Haven't been assessed yet? Get in touch with me or with Sharon right away. We can provide you with details of local level assessors so that you can be assessed. You MUST be assessed prior to entering.

  3. If you have a particular person you wish to be in a team with please let Michele our Top Team Trophy organiser know. However, please note that this will not guarantee you will have similar times. Ideally, teams will be assigned to reduce the number of people at the same grade being on the same team and thus potentially being in competition with each other.

For each team Mentone enters, we are required to provide a helper for a few hours on the day. So anyone entering who is able to provide a non-riding person to do some tasks on the day (assigned by the event organisers) I would be most grateful. Please note this on your entry forms.

Even if you don't want to ride, why not volunteer as a helper or even just attend to barrack for your fellow club members? You will still be an important and valued part of the team. Call Michele at the number below if you can help.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to call Michele Binder on 0430 314 316.
