Galadriel, the Lady of Lothlórien, was the most powerful Elf in Middle-Earth in the Third Age, and was the last Noldor leader to leave Middle-Earth. In 1362, she was born in the Undying Lands. She had four older brothers: Finrod, Orodreth, Angrod, and Aegnor.

Galadriel was very wise and beautiful. Her golden hair was touched with silver, and it is said that it was what inspired Feanor when he captured the light of the Two Trees in the Silmarils. It is also known that she became powerful from being the niece of Feanor, the creator of the Silmarils. She learned much from Yavanna and Aule during the time she spent in the Undying Lands. Though she was understanding and merciful, she was also proud and willful.

When Feanor left Galadriel and her brothers behind in the Undying Lands, she refused to turn back. Driven by the desire to arrive to Middle-earth to establish her own realm, she and her brothers led their people across the Helcaraxe, the dangerous route to Middle-Earth across the Sea in the North. After this ordeal, they reached Belerian in northwestern Middle-Earth near the beginning of the First Age. She settled in Doriath and there fell in love with the prince, Celeborn. They married and lived through most of the First Age at Doriath.

In the Second Age, they crossed the Blue Mountains to Eriador. They settled around Lake Evendim, north of what would become the Shire, and Galadriels daughter Celebrí was born there. (Celebrí was the mother of Arwen Undómiel.)

After settling in Eregion, Galadriel familiarized herself with Lothlorien, which lay on the other side of the Misty Mountains. She and Celeborn dwelled there until Celebrimbor seized Eregion. Then Galadriel departed to Lothlórien, although she and Celeborn did not become rulers right away. They visited Rivendell for a while, and that was where Elrond, the Lord of Rivendell, fell in love with Celebrían. They were married 109 TA. They had three children: Elladan and Elrohir in 130, and then Arwen Undómiel in 241.

After Amroth, the ruler of Lothlórien, perished in the Sea, Galadriel and Celeborn returned and took up rule there in 1981. They lived in Caras Galadhon (the City of the Trees), made up of platforms in the branches of trees. Lothlorien came to be known as the Golden Wood. Galadriel also had a garden there where she kept her Mirror. The Mirror of Galadriel was a silver basin in which she could view certain images; things that were, things that are, and some things that had not yet come to pass.

Galadriel became archenemies with Sauron and was able to perceive his designs, namely those that involved the Elves. She managed to protect Lothlorien from him with the power of her ring Nenya. When the Fellowship arrived at her lands, she tested the resolve of every one of them. When Frodo offered the One Ring to her, she resisted the temptation to take it. After the Fellowship had departed from Lothlórien, she asked Gwahir the Windlord to search for Gandalf. He was found on the Silvertine, and was brought back to Lothlorien where Galadriel clothed him in white to replace Sauron with him.

After the War of the Ring, Galadriel attended Arwens wedding to Aragorn at Minas Tirith. She also accompanied Théodens funeral procession to Rohan. She and Celeborn returned to Lothlórien, but stayed for only two more years. Galadriels time at Middle-Earth was coming to an end, although Celeborn still wished to remain. She parted with him and joined Elrond. With Frodo, they traveled to the Grey Havens where they met Gandalf. The ringbearers boarded the ship to carry them over the Sea to the Undying Lands on September 29, 3021. There she was reunited with the mother, father, and daughter, and soon after, Celeborn left Middle-Earth and joined her.
