See how Melvyn came to be in this epic story of fame, strife, love, sex (well, not really) and rock and roll:
The band that is now Melvyn started as an idea, then progessed into a reality. Mark Mathey, the guitarist to what is now known as Melvyn, could be considered the founder of Melvyn, although "Melvyn" was not the real name of the band at the time.

In his 8th grade to freshman year at Turpin High School, Mark Mathey met a wonderful kid in Wes Sutermeister in his Biology class. They had known each other before but this class really made them friends. Simple flirtation in the class and a common interest in music caused both boys to get together one day to play around with some music. Wes caught a likin' to this music and bought a bass guitar to learn and play it for the specific reason to be in a band with Mark Mathey, who at that age was awesome at guitar. The combo started playing music and named themselves "Phred Goes Bowling".

Soon after this, Phred Goes Bowling realized that they needed a singer to help with their musical dream. Mark Mathey quickly brought Jim Casto into the picture, as they also were fooling around with music on their own. Jim Casto's lyrics have been the driving force behind Melvyn's music the last 4 years. The trio met and the band was one piece away from being complete.

The last piece was quickly found in Mark Jones. Mark Mathey had ties with him through the band and asked Mark if he would like to be in a band. The four of them got together one rainy day and "Melvyn" was started, the chemistry was instant.

After tough years of being cut from Battle of the Bands, Melvyn never quit and stormed back to take Turpin High School by storm. Their amazing guitar playing, thumpin' bass beats, kick ass lyrics, and poundin' drums has made a name for them at their high school. However, Melvyn continues to grow and produce more fun loving music everyone can enjoy. Watch out in the future as Melvyn continues their dream to rock the world.
