The Mass

1. What is the mass or Echaristic celebration
   - It is the sacrifice of the cross taking place today on our altars?
   - A memorial of Jesus' death, resurrection and ascension
   - A sacred banquet in which the food we recieve is Jesus Himself

2. What are the purpose for which the Mass is offered?
   - To adore God as our Creator and Lord
   - To thank God for His many favors
   - To ask God to bestow His blessing on all men, ask His forgiveness
   - To satify the justice of God for sins committed against Him

3. Is there any difference between the sacrifice of the cross and the sacrifice of the Mass?
   - Yes, there are differences and similarity:
   - Similarity: Christ's presence as priest and victim (gift) also the same as the act of offering
   - Difference:
   - The ordained priest takes Christ's place in the Mass while Christ is an invisible priest
   - No physical shedding of blooding or physical death in the Mass today
   - On the Cross, Christ gained merit and satisfied for us, in the Mass, He applies to us the merits and satisfaction of His death

4. What are the 2 main liturgy division of the Mass?
   - These 2 are called the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist

5. What is the Liturgy of the Word?
   - From the beginning of the Mass through the end of the Prayer of the Faithful

6. What is the Liturgy of the Eucharist?
   - Begins at the Eucharist Prayer through the en dof the Mass

7. What are the spiritual effect of the Holy Eucharistic
   - An increase of sanctifying grace, a closer union with Jesus Christ, fervent love of God and of our neighbor
   -Preservation from mortal sin, the remission of venial sin
   - The lessening of our inclination of sins and hte help to practice good works
   - An increase of one's faith to eternal happiness after death

8. What is necessary to receive Holy Communion worthily?
   - Free from mortal sins
   - To have a right intention
   - To obey the Church's law on fast (an hour before communion)

9. How many times can we receive Holy Communion in 1 day?
   - Twice (2) a day, but have to fully attend Mass
