The Holy Spirit

1. Who is the Holy Spirit?
   - The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Blessed Trinity.

2. What are some other names for the Holy Spirit?
   - Spirit of God, Gift of God, Spirit of Truth, Giver of Life, and Giver and Paraclete.

3. What does the Holy Spirit do for us?
   - The Holy Spirit transform us through grace, the virtues. His gifts and actual graces. He helps us to know Jesus our Savior and our Father in heaven. He helps us to pray and to evangelize.

4. What doest the Holy Spirit do for the Church?
   - The Holy Spirit joins God's Temple -- so that they will not make mistakes in teaching Catholic truth. He gives us the grace Jesus won for un by His death the cross.

5. When did the Holy Spirit first make active in the world before Jesus' resurrection?
   - We think of Pentecost as the day when the He first made Himself know to Jesus' followers. He gave the Apostles courage, deeper understanding of Jesus' teachings, and a spirit of sacrifice. He gave them grace and joined them more closely to pride together. ("surely we cannot help speaking of what we have heard and seen).

6. What is the special gift that the Holy Spirit gives us?
   - The special gift that the Holy Spirit gives us is Grace which was won for us by Jesus' death on the cross. Jesus died and rose, not only to make up for the great offense of our sins, but also to give us a chance to reach heaven through grace.

7. What is a virtue?
   - A virtue is a power to do good or a habit of doing good.
   - The main God - given virtues are the theological (God - centered) virtues and cardinal (hinge or key) virtues. Although these power are free gift of God, we must use them, so that they truly become the habits of doing good that God meant them to.

8. What are the theological virtues?
   - The theological virtues are God - given and God - centered habits of doing good -- by name: faith, hope, and charity.
   - Theological means that which pertains to God.

9. What is the virtue of faith?
   - Faith is the virtue by which we believe in God and everything He has taught us.

10. What is the virtue of hope?
   - Hope is the virtue by which we trust that our all powerful and faithful God will bring us to heaven if we live as He asks us to live.

11. What is the virtue of charity (love)?
   - Charity is the virtue by which we love God above everything else and love all other people for His sake.

12. What are the acts of faith, hope, and charity (love)?
   - The acts of faith, hope and charity are prayers that express our belief, our trust, and our love for God.

13. What virtues are called "cardinal"?
   - The cardinal virtue are prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance.
   - Prudence: is the virtue by which a person puts heaven before everything else, thinks carefully before acting, make wise choices, and does things well.
   - Justice::: is the virtue by which a person is fair to everyone - first of all, to God.
   - Fortitude: is the virtue by which a person does what is good and right in spite of any difficulty.
   - Temperance: is the virtue of which a person exercise self control with regard to the drives of human nature.

14. What are the beatitudes?
   - The beatitudes are perfect acts that the Holy Spirit enables us to perform. Beatitudes means happiness. Those who practice the beatitudes have a foretaste of heaven.
