Scout Sign: The Scout sign marks you as a Scout everywhere in the world. Give it each time you recite the Scout Oath and Law. Held high, the Scout sign is a signal for attention. When as Scout leader raises his hand in the Scout sign. All scouts should also make the sign and come to silent attention. To give the Scout sign, cover the nail of the little finger of your right hand with your right thumb. Then raise your right hand, palm forward, with the three middle fingers upward. Those three fingers stand for the three part of the Scout Oath. Your thumb and little finger touch to represent the bond that unites all scouts.

Scout Salute: The Scout salute signifies respect. Use it to salute the flag of the Unites State of America. As a sign of courtesy, you may also salute a Scout leader or another Scout. Scout Handclasp: The Scout handclasp is a token of friendship. That is why it is made with the left hand., the hand nearest your heart. Give the Scout handclasp by extending your left hand to another Scout and firmly grasping his hand.

Scout Badges: The shape of the complete Scout badge, which is also on the First Class badge of rank, was adapted from the north point of an old mariner's compass. The design is often called trefoil - a flower with three leaves. It is also known by its French name, fleur-de-lis lily or iris flower. The shape resembles an arrowhead. The trefoil means that a Scout can point the right way in life as truly as a compass can in the field. The three point, like the fingers of the Scout sign, stand for the three part of Scout Oath: duty to God and country, duty to others, and duty to self. The two stars symbolize truth and knowledge, and the outdoors in scouting. The eagle with the shield stands for freedom and a Scout's readiness to defend that freedom. The scroll with the Scout motto is turned up at the end. It is a hint that a Scout smile as he does his duty. A knot at the bottom of the scroll is a reminder to Do a Good Turn Daily.

Scout Uniform: Wearing a uniform is part of the thrill of being a Scout. Put on your uniform and you feel ready for hiking, camping and other Scout activities. By dressing alike, you and all other Scout show that you are equal in the spirit of brotherhood and that you stand for certain ideals.
