Sacraments of Baptism

1. What is Baptism?
   - Baptism gives us new life of sanctifying grace by which we become God's children and members of the Church.

2. Who can give us the sacrament of Baptism?
   - The priest and (the people when in an emergency).

3. How do we get baptize?
- By pouring natural water on the forehead of the person to be baptized, and while pouring say this: "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

4. How many ways can one be baptized?
   - There are 3 ways: by water, by blood, and by desire

5. Who can receive the sacrament of Baptism?
   - Any unbaptized person
   - If adults they need to : have the desire, have faith and live a good life, and study catechism

6. What do we receive at Baptism?
   - We receive the sanctifying grace, theological virtues: faith, hope, and love.

7. From what sins does Jesus set us free in Baptism?
   - Free from original sin and all personal sins.

8. In the sacrament of Baptism, what do we promise?
   a. We promise to renounce the devil, his allurements and temptation.
   b. We promise to live according to the teaching of Christ and His Church.

9. Is Baptism necessary?
   - Baptism is necessary because it takes away original sin so that we can get to heaven.

10. What is the form of Baptism?
   - "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
   - The words show that the person is entering into a new and ever lasting relationship with our triune God -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

11. What is the matter of Baptism?
   - Natural Water: stands for the removal of sin and the giving of new life called grace.

12. Why do we have to get a Saint name when we were baptized?
   - So that the baptized person may imitate his/her Saint's virtues and receive protection.

13. Why do we need godparent when we receive baptism?
   - Godparents have to help the baptized person with his/her spiritual life.

14. What happens to infants who die unbaptized?
   - Since they have committed no sins, they will live in a place of natural happiness called "Limbo".

15. Do parent have to plan to have their infants baptized early?
