About Me

My name is Megan Warren. I live in Perth, Western Australia with my husband Ken and our son Troy. In 2003 I completed a Bachelor of Arts English, I am currently studying for a Graduate Diploma in Psychology at Edith Cowan University.

My interests include reading in particular Autobiographies and Biographies, and anything I can get my hands on pertaining to Pregnancy Loss. When Im not reading what other people have written, I am writing myself. I write poetry, essays, short stories and hope to one day write a novel.

Another of my pursuits is my artwork. I started with art-stamping and progressed to collage that incorporated both art-stamping and found objects. Many of my artworks are on display in the Artwork gallery. I also enjoy the books of Nick Bantock, which are a collaboration of the written word and the image.

After the loss of our sons I immersed myself in my writing and artwork. I sought to understand what had happened and hopefully find some answers. For me writing and art are beneficial, they help me to remember our boys, but also to heal the pain of the loss. You don't have to be able to write brilliantly or grammatically correct or create a masterpiece to express yourself. It is as much about the process as it is about the end product. Whether it is something to share or something that is kept private and close to the heart, it is all important. It helps to release the feelings of pain and grief that would otherwise continue to build inside. These thoughts must be released and how better than writing and art.

I have chosen to share my story in the hope of helping others cope with their experience of loss. I don't profess to know all the answers. I sometimes wish I did, then perhaps I wouldn't be in this situation. All I can say is take heart -you are not alone.
