"C60K"

C60K Enjoying A Few DrinksWith "C60K", I Was Placed Into A New Kind Of Style..... Rock / Techno..... This Didn't Blend Well With My New Found Love For "Italo Dance", But I Continued To Play Nonetheless.....

AND, With "C60K", I Did Something I Have NEVER Done Before In My Life, I Performed In A Foreign Country..... Yep, With "C60K", We Went Over To Germany In Early 2001 And Performed At The "Rock & Rhyme" Festival In Zanten..... It Was An Unbelieveable Night..... Over 200 People All Came Just To Listen To Some Bands From England Playing Covers And Originals..... It Really Was A Great Feeling.....

And What Happened After That Unbelieveable Day? Well, Again, The College Course Finished, And THAT Band Ended As Well.....

WHAT NEXT?

But Hey, I Continued To Perform At Karaoke Events..... I Even Clocked Up My Schedule To "5 Karaoke Nights A Week", But I Gave That Up Because I Became Too Tired, So I Cut It Down To A Manageable "3 Karaoke Nights A Week".....

However, Just Some Of The Most Challenging Parts Of My Music Career So Far.....
Have Both Happened Within The Year Of 2001.....

PONTINS / ROCK-IT MUSIC: TALENT CONTEST

In August 2001, I Went On A Weeks Holiday To A "Pontins" Resort In Hemsby..... Just To Relax, But Once I Found Out They Had A Karaoke, I HAD To Go Out EVERY Day..... It Was OK Though, It Was Always In Midday, So I Would Always Have Plenty Of Time To Relax Afterwards.....

Anyway, The First Day There, The First Day Of A Karaoke At Hemsby, And The DJ (He Was Called "Big Kev") Pulled Me To One Side, And Told Me He Thought I Was "Quite Talented"..... He Informed Me Of A Talent Contest Which Was Being Run At Pontins Resorts All Over England, And One Of The Semi-Finals Was Right Here In Hemsby, And Would I Like To Take Part...... Well, For Me, It Was Just Another Chance To Do What I Love To Do, And That Is Perform.....

He Told Me, That If I Won This Semi Final, I Would Receive A Small Medal, A Certificate, And A Chance To Go For The Grande Prize..... Hmmm, A "Grand Prize"..... I Know I Am Only In It For The Music, But I Always Say That If There's A "Grand Prize", That's A Bonus.....

So I Enquired About The Grand Prize, And It Was..... £500 And A Prefessionally Made 10 Track Album CD..... WOW..... Now That Is DEFINATELY Worth Taking Part..... So I Agreed, And Told "Big Kev" That I Would Love To Take Part.....

The Choices Of Song Were Limited, But Eventually, I Chose "Supreme by Robbie Williams"..... (Believe Me, If They Had "Lucky (In My Life)" Or "80's Stars", I Would Have Gone For Them Without Hesitation).....

So I Chose "Supreme", And I Met Up WIth The Competition.......... A 25 Year Old Woman..... Huh?..... I Thought I Would Have Been Going Against Something Like 10 Other Competitiors, But Nope, It Was Just Me And Her, And That Made Me Nervous..... Because I Heard Her In Rehearsals, And She Was Great, She Had No Backing Tapes At All, She Went Totally Accappella (And I Immediately Thought That Would Give Her An Edge In The Voting), Plus, She, Like Me, Was A VERY Nice Person..... I Both Liked The Fact I Would Be Competing Against A Good Singer, But I Hated The Fact I Had To Go Against A Nice Woman Like This One.....

Anyway, The Evening Came, No Other Competitors Had Entered, So It Was Still Just Me And Her..... After A Random Drawing, She Was On Stage Second..... Oh My God..... I Have To Open Up This Talent Contest..... Well, I Was Nervous Right Up Until I Walked Out Onto The Stage, It Was Quite Eye Shaking..... All These Families Had Taken Time Out Of Their Vacation To Watch These Two People Face Each Other In A Contest To Determine Which One Had More Talent Than The Other.....

It Was A Very Good Contest, She Sang "Part Of Your World" From The Walt Disney Animated Film "The Little Mermaid", And Of Course, I Sang "Supreme"..... When The Both Of Us Had Sang, We Were Each Called Back Onto The Stage To A Huge Round Of Applause, And Then Sent Backstage To Wait For The Judges Decision.....

You Know That Program "Big Brother"? Where They All Have To Wait, And Wait, And Wait To Find Out Who Is Being Evicted..... Well, I Always Thought It Wasn't That Hard..... But Now, I've Lived It..... We Were Only Waiting For About 12 Seconds, But It Seemed More Like 12 Minutes..... Eventually, They Did That "And The Winner Is....." Speech..... And Upon The Microphone They Announced " .......... David Hurt .......... "

" .......... .......... .......... .......... .......... .......... "
