Dimensions of Destiny

Chapter Three

Part One

Enterprise Bridge

Sub-Commander TPol looked over at the communications station to see Ensign Hoshi Sato and Rybrillian Prefect Ca-Yanne give each other a satisfied look.

Hoshi was then aware of TPols passive gaze. Prefect Ca-Yanne and I have finished inputting the Rybrillian language in the ships Universal Translator, Sub-Commander, she said.

TPol gave a nod. Excellent, the Vulcan replied.

My people and I greatly appreciate your assistance, Sub-Commander, Ca-Yanne said, her soft voice seemingly floating through the air. We have been away from our world for far too long. Her large amber eyes expressed her gratefulness.

TPol merely inclined her head in response.

Sub-Commander. It was Ensign Travis Mayweather. Theres a ship approaching us from the surface.

But before TPol could answer, Hoshi spoke up: Were being hailed...audio only.

On speaker, TPol ordered.

Enterprise, this is Archer.

Go ahead, Captain.

Im aboard Treys freighter, along with Malcolm, Trip, and some guests. Meet me in the launch bay. Archer out.

Ensign Mayweather, open the launch bay doors. You have the bridge, TPol said, as she got up out of the conn chair, heading for the turbo-lift.

Yes, Sub-Commander, Travis replied, as his fingers moved smoothly over his control panel to open the launch bay doors as ordered.

Part Two

Enterprise Launch Bay

TPol waited until the launch bay doors closed and the area pressurized before entering. As she approached the freighter, a ramp slowly came down revealing Archer standing in the opening.

Archer was back in his freshly cleaned uniform, holding a small duffel bag. As a gesture of goodwill, the Exoians allowed the Enterprise people to keep the clothes and the weapons that they had used throughout their time on Exoia.

Archer came down the ramp and stopped in front of TPol who was waiting near the end of the ramp.

Welcome back, Captain, TPol said.

Thank-you, TPol, Archer replied, smiling faintly. Its good to be back.

Coming down the ramp were Trip and Malcolm, also back in their clean uniforms. Ryvinia was next, followed by Krysira. TPol nodded in greeting to the others.

Archer turned to his chief engineer. Trip, I talked to Hoshi earlier and she has no problem sharing her quarters with Krysira. Have her meet you two at her quarters.

Trip nodded. Yes, sir, he answered.

Krysira inclined her head. Your hospitality is greatly appreciated, Captain, she replied in her soft voice.

Archer grinned. My pleasure, Krysira. He then turned to his tactical officer. Malcolm, why dont you give the Counselor a tour of Enterprise?

Malcolm smiled. Of course, sir, the British officer replied.

Ryvinia smiled her thanks to Archer, while allowing Malcolm to guide her out of the hangar bay. Trip took Krysira by the hand and followed the other couple.

Captain Archer! It was the raspy voice of Trey, who was now standing in the opening of his ship. He saw the human look around at him. Chelz and I are headed to Tysag to pick up the first group of Rybrillians.

Archer nodded. Just signal us when you approach, he told the Exoian space pilot.

Of course. Trey nodded and disappeared into the freighter, as the ramp slowly closed.

The captain turned back to TPol seeing his Vulcan second-in-command gazing passively in the direction that the others had gone. TPol? He questioned.

She turned back to Archer, her face neutral. Yes, Captain? She replied in question.

Is there a...problem?

No, sir.

He searched her face, but saw no trace of any emotion whatsoever. He wondered if she had seen Trip grab Krysiras hand. He definitely saw it. He knew how those two felt about each other. Or was it Malcolms attentiveness to Ryvinia that caught TPols attention? He wasnt sure.

Archer cleared his throat. TPol...we have to talk, he told her, as he headed out of the launch bay with the exotic-looking Vulcan female next to him.

Part Three

Enterprise Conference room

Archer gazed out the small observation window, hands behind his back. TPol came up beside him, studying him.

Captain? TPols voice was soft, yet neutral.

Archer sighed heavily. A great deal happened down there in the past few days, TPol, he told her.

Is that the reason that you wanted to...talk?

Not really. However theres been a slight alteration in our plans. On the way back to Exoia to pick up the shuttlepods after taking the Rybrillians back to their homeworld were dropping off Krysira and Ryvinia at Coruscant. He paused. Besides Ryvinia, Trey and Chelz, well have four more Exoians on board. Trey says that therell be more than enough room on his freighter for them to sleep.

TPol tilted her head slightly to one side. Those changes do not interfere with our current plan, Captain.

Perhaps not, but I wanted you to be aware of what was going on.

That is appreciated.

Also, just before we leave orbit, I want to assemble the entire crew in the messhall for a meeting.

I will arrange it for you, Captain.

Archer nodded. Thank-you, TPol.

The captain turned back to the viewport, gazing at the planet that hung serenely before him, as he let out a long sigh. TPol turned to leave, but paused.

Captain...would you care to relate the events that took place on Exoia? TPol offered.

Archers head snapped around, looking surprised but pleased. He motioned to the nearby table. Have a seat, TPol. Its a long story.

Part Four

Exoia Jinix government center holding cells

Entok looked up to see Pallaton coming down the corridor. He stepped forward to greet the Tribune.

Tribune, what brings you here? Entok questioned.

I am here to see Durriken, Pallaton said the name with contempt.

Entok raised an eyebrow. You think it wise, sir? He questioned, concerned.

Pallaton sighed heavily, his hands behind his back. Under other circumstances, he would have lashed out at any subordinate questioning his actions. However, he knew that Entok was merely looking out for his well being. He gazed at Entok, smiling faintly.

Perhaps not, however I believe it is time to let Durriken know that any plans that Drayce had have been exposed and crushed.

Entok nodded. I believe that he may deny everything.

Pallaton smirked. He can deny as much as he wants, but we have evidence to the contrary. He laid a hand on the guards shoulder. With thanks to you.

Entok bowed his head in thanks. With your permission, I will accompany you.

Of course.

Durriken rested on his cot on his back with his hands behind his head, eyes closed. He wondered when Drayce was going to make his move and free him. Although with the heightened security, it would be futile to do so at this time. Perhaps Drayce was biding his time.

Durriken. He heard an icy voice call to him.

He opened his eyes to see Pallaton standing on the other side of the criss cross beams glowering at him. Durriken swung his feet over the side of the cot, standing up.

Pallaton saw the arrogant expression on the younger mans face.

You not only have committed treason against the Exoian people, but you have betrayed me as well. You have attempted to murder a Jedi. He saw Durriken shrug indifferently. You murdered Nayda. His voice seethed with contempt and barely controlled anger.

Durriken snorted. You have no proof! He shot back smoothly.

Pallaton smirked. On the contrary. We have the voice log from your computer. He saw a flicker of panic cross Durrikens handsome face quickly. We also found out an interesting fact that you kept well hidden.

Whatever would that be?

That you and Drayce are brothers.

Durrikens eyes narrowed dangerously. Pallaton would have to be eliminated. He would see to it personally, once Drayce freed him.

Oh and it...pleases me to inform you that Drayce is dead. Pallaton said with a smile on his face. A fitting end to a traitor.

Durriken stepped towards the cell door ignoring the four blaster rifles that were now trained on him. He glared at Pallaton.

YOU LIE! Durriken roared.

Pallaton eyed him calmly. You will see his body when you and your accomplices are brought forth for judgment regarding your crimes against the Exoian people.

With that, Pallaton whirled on his heel and strode down the corridor.

YOU LIE! Durriken bellowed again. DRAYCE WILL FREE ME AND ALL OF YOU WILL DIE!

Entok looked at Durriken. Not likely. Savor what little life you have left, Durriken, he said tonelessly and followed in Pallatons wake.

Durriken staggered back from the cell door sinking heavily onto the cot. He refused to allow the tears that were forming in his eyes to fall. No! Drayce can not be dead! He thought to himself. Pallaton is merely telling me this so that I will reveal Drayces plans! I will not fall for that! He will not get that satisfaction! Pallaton will pay for these outrageous lies!

Part Five

Enterprise Hoshis quarters

As Hoshi came around the bend in the corridor, she saw Krysira and Trip waiting near the door of her quarters. She paused to see Trip brush his lips against Krysira's lips in a tender kiss, then gently stroke one of her cheeks with his fingers.

Hoshi cleared her throat, seeing Trip withdraw a step from Krysira as she joined them. I hope that you werent waiting long, she said to them, as she entered her quarters.

Krysira shook her head. Not at all, Hoshi, the beautiful Jedi replied. Your hospitality is most appreciated. I hope that I am not inconveniencing you. She followed the young Oriental woman with Trip a step behind her.

Trip stood near the door, leaning against the wall with his arms folded over his chest, while Hoshi showed Krysira where she would be sleeping and where she could stow her belongings.

Ill leave you to get settled in, Krysira, Hoshi said, moving towards the door.

Krysira inclined her head. Once again, thank-you for your hospitality, she replied, then locked eyes with Trip briefly.

Trip understood the look and cleared his throat. Uh...Hoshi, he began softly.

Hoshi turned around to look at the chief engineer. Commander? She replied in question a bit nervously.

I just wanted to apologize for what happened the other day...about the vase. I was upset with the captain and it just kind of happened. I never meant for it to happen, let alone do what I did. He shrugged a little. But, Im learning...with Krysira's help. His dark blue eyes drifted over to Krysira to see a soft approving smile on her face, then looked back to Hoshi.

Hoshi nodded. Krysira explained the situation. The Force is now a part of you and its something were all going to have to accept in our own ways, I suppose.

Are you okay with it, Hoshi?

Well...

Its still me.

Hoshi looked at Trip for a few long moments and realized he was right. She smiled. Im okay with it, Commander. Itll just take some getting used to, is all.

Trip grinned. I know what you mean.

She smiled at Krysira. Ill let you settle in, Krysira.

The female Jedi bowed slightly as Hoshi left her quarters.

That seemed to go well, Trip commented.

Indeed. You made a good point, Trip, Krysira replied.

I did?

Yes...you stated it was still you and that is a very important thing to remember regarding the Force. The Force does not change one, however, one can change because of it...and not always for the better.

I take it that theres a...downside to the Force.

Yes. Her voice was very soft, almost reluctant.

Trip walked over to Krysira, slipping an arm around her waist, picking up on her reluctance. Why dont we just concentrate on the upside of the Force...for now, shall we?

Yes...for now...but it is something that we will have to discuss at some point.

Okay. He kissed her lips softly. Lets get you settled in, then well head down to engineering.

Krysira nodded, then returned the kiss.

Part Six

Enterprise Messhall

Captain Jonathan Archer strode down the corridor to the messhall. He had about fifteen minutes before the crew assembled. He was pleased that TPol had the senior officers reporting ten minutes before the rest of the crew.

He walked in to see the tables and chairs had been removed. No doubt that it was Chefs doing. Archer saw that Trip was already here with Krysira minus her cloak by his side and joined them. He noted Krysira's calm demeanor.

I hope that Hoshis quarters are satisfactory, Krysira, Archer commented.

My accommodations are more than adequate, Captain, Krysira responded, pleasantly.

Archer nodded. Good. He paused. This meeting is for you to explain...the Force. I hope that this isnt too short of notice.

Krysira smiled. I have been prepared since we discussed it the day before yesterday.

Archer grinned. He then turned around when the doors opened as Porthos charged through.

Porthos! A male voice was heard calling out in the corridor.

Archers handsome face broke out into an expression of genuine affection for his beloved beagle. He bent down as the dog apparently ran towards him.

However, much to his dismay, the little animal ran past his surprised master and leapt into the arms of a surprised Krysira, licking her chin, his tail wagging furiously. Archer stood up, staring at his pets actions.

Krysira saw the hurt expression that crossed Archers rugged features. She made eye contact with the animal, invoking the Jedi mind control. Go to your master, little one, she said in a voice just above a whisper.

Porthos gazed back at Krysira. He gave her chin once last gentle lick before he jumped out of her arms, scampering over to Archer, who picked him up. By this time, Phlox dashed in.

Im sorry, Captain, Phlox apologized. He suddenly leapt out of my arms and ran here.

Its alright, Phlox, Archer replied, then looked down at the beagle, which licked his chin. Although, Im a bit puzzled as to why Porthos ran to Krysira.

I met Porthos while in the infirmary, Captain, Krysira supplied.

Ah.

I think that Porthos has good taste, Trip quipped, grinning as he slid closer to Krysira, as he gave her an affectionate squeeze.

Archer allowed a smile to cross his lips, then nodded. Id go along with that.

There was a pink flush to Krysira's soft cheeks, as she realized what the two men were talking about.

Phlox cleared his throat. And how are you feeling, Krysira? He questioned, changing the subject.

I am well, Doctor Phlox, she answered.

The Denobulan physician smiled. Excellent.

At that point, TPol and Travis entered, followed by Malcolm and Hoshi.

Krysira felt the Force in the room. She knew that it wasnt coming from Trip. That much she was certain about, for she was in tune with his signature. No...it was someone else who was Force-sensitive, but who it was specifically, she wasnt sure. It wasnt the Force-sensitivity that Trip displayed, but it was evident just the same. She would remain silent until she was certain of who it was and how they felt about the Force after her explanation.

The rest of the crew assembled in the messhall as ordered.

Archer stepped forward to address them, after setting Porthos back on the floor. The little beagle trotted over and sat on its haunches next to Krysira's feet.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for making accommodations for the Rybrillians, Archer began. Second of all, we have some guests from the planet Exoia below, accompanying us to the Rybrillian homeworld as a gesture of goodwill. Lastly, on the return trip, well be heading to a planet called Coruscant to drop off two of our guests. One of them is here. He turned to look at Krysira, who nodded slightly in response, stepping forward.

Trip stiffened seeing all the male crewmembers gaze at Krysira. Again, TPol noticed that Krysira took no notice of the men staring at her.

Greetings, I am Krysira Antilles, she began. I am a Jedi Knight. The Jedi are guardians of peace throughout the Republic. Coruscant, a city encompassing an entire world, is the home of the Jedi Temple. She put her hands behind her back. Jedi are trained at a very early age. We are chosen for this through our connection with the Force. She began to pace slowly in front of the crew. The Force is an energy field that connects us all.

For the next half-hour, Krysira explained the Force and answered questions posed by the crew. Archer saw the patience that Krysira displayed and also how naturally she talked to them.

A young woman with blond hair raised her hand. She had red striping on her uniform. Excuse me, but is it possible for a person from our universe to use the Force? She questioned.

Yes, Krysira replied. Only if they are aware of the Force and are guided in the use of it by a Jedi.

Travis raised his hand. Does the Force exist in our universe? He wanted to know.

Krysira rubbed her chin, pondering the question. I would venture to say that it is quite possible. However to be certain, a Jedi would have to enter your universe and attempt to use the Force.

When there were no more questions, Krysira motioned for some of the crew to move back a few paces.

The Jedi are trained in the use of a weapon known as a lightsabre, Krysira told them, as she opened one of her hands and one of her lightsabres was in her hand, ignited, glowing a brilliant blue. The only sound in the room was the hum of the lightsabre. A lightsabre can go through anything, except for another lightsabre. However, if not properly trained, this is an extremely dangerous weapon, as is any weapon, She exchanged a knowing look with Malcolm. In one fluid motion, Krysira switched off her lightsabre, belting it. Are there any other questions?

There was silence.

Archer stepped up next to Krysira. I had Krysira explain this to you, so that if you observed something out of the ordinary, none of you would panic, he said. I know that this is...hard to grasp for all of us, but since we are in Krysira's universe, I thought that it would be...beneficial for us to know, at least, the basics.

Krysira looked at the crew. I realize that this is a...difficult concept to understand for those who have never heard of the Force, she said to the crew. However, as Captain Archer stated, it is beneficial for you to at least be aware of the Force, while you are here.

Archer laid a large hand on Krysira's shoulder, gently squeezing it. Thank-you, Krysira. He withdrew his hand.

Krysira bowed. My pleasure, Captain. She stepped back to stand next to Trip once again.

Archer faced the crew. Alright. Everyone return to your posts. We leave for Rybrill in fifteen minutes. Dismissed.

The crew quickly filed out of the messhall.

Archer turned to Krysira. I think that that went well, he stated.

We shall see, Captain, Krysira merely said in a neutral tone. We shall see.
