Happy Happy SAMHAIN!

This is just an outline of a ritual I wrote for myself. Nothing too exact (cant even remember where I got most of the info) I didn't write all of it, just the order. I borrowed a little from here, little from there, you know how that goes. I do hope you enjoy the ritual and take what you need to make it your own. Brightest blessings in the new year to you and yours!!

Happy New Year!

Items:
matches
black candle
besom (broom)
cauldron (or small bowl) filled with water
tarot
Invoking the Elements

Start off by centering/circle and welcoming the 4 elements. You could say something like:
North
Hail and welcome powers of the Earth
Powers of stability, security and fertility.
Bless my rite and protect this circle.
East
Hail and welcome powers of Air
Powers of freedom, perception and thought
Bless my rite and protect this circle
South
Hail and welcome powers of Fire
Powers of love, healing and nature
Bless my rite and protect this circle
West
Hail and welcome powers of Water
Powers of emotions, feelings, and dreams
Bless my rite and protect this circle

If you're standing, turn towards each direction with your hands held high above your head.
Really welcome each element. Feel them swirling around you as you call them.

Sweeping

Grab your besom (broom) and go clockwise around your circle sweeping outwards.
Imagine you are sweeping out all the negativity of the old year. Do this three times.
Rite

Now is the time to welcome all the departed from your life. Relatives, friends, pets etc. that have passed on.
Go to the Western Quarter and draw an invoking pentagram with the athame (or a nice stick) to open the gate.
Then evoke the dead by saying:
All ye spirits who walk this night -
   Hearken! Hearken to my call!
I bid you in our Circle join!
Enter! Enter - one and all!
Come ye, spirits of the dead:
Be ye spirit of plant or pet
Or human being who still roams!
Into this Circle you are let!
Speak to us of things unknown!
Lend your energies to this rite!
To speed your journey, we have joined
   On this sacred Samhain night!
All ye spirits who walk this night -
   Hearken! Hearken to my call!
I bid you in our Circle join!
Enter! Enter - one and all!
Now is the time where the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest.
Welcome __(name of past loved ones)_ come be with me in this hour of magick!

Take a moment to feel and reflect on fun times youve had with the parted. You may wish to
light candles for each spirit or have special offerings that mean something to you and the spirit

Bestow blessings upon the dead, saying:
Oh Mighty Pan of the Summerlands:
   Guardian of the beloved dead
We pour forth love on those you keep
   Safely, in your peaceful stead
We bless those who have walked the path
That someday, we as well, shall rove
We offer peace unto their souls
While resting in your arms, below
The Sun conceived in Darkness, cold
In the Shadow of Death, a Life unfolds
A shred of Light begins to burn
From Death comes Life - the Circle turns.
Draw a closing pentagram in the east to close the gate.
(if you live somewhere cold, the rest of the rite can easily be preformed inside your house)
   Divination

Now its time for divination if you wish. You may scry in a cauldron of water, read tarot,
runes etc. This is a time to meditate on the future.
Closing

To close your circle, if you like, you may read this poem.
Fire red, summer's dead,
   Yet shall it return.
Clear and bright in the night,
   Burn, fire, burn!
Dance the ring, luck to bring,
   When the year's a turning.
   Chant the rhyme at Hallowstime,
   When the fire's burning.
 Fire glow, vision show
   Of the heart's desire,
   When the spell's chanted well
   Of the witching fire.
Dance the ring, luck to bring,
   When the year's a turning.
   Chant the rhyme at Hallowstime,
   When the fire's burning.
Fire spark, when nights are dark,
   Makes our winter's mirth.
Red leaves fall, earth takes all,
   Brings them to rebirth.
Dance the ring, luck to bring,
   When the year's a turning.
   Chant the rhyme at Hallowstime,
   When the fire's burning.
 Fire fair, earth and air,
   And the heaven's rain,
And blessed be, and so may we,
   At Hallowstide again.
Dance the ring, luck to bring,
   When the year's a turning.
   Chant the rhyme at Hallowstime,
   When the fire's burning.

Thank all spirits and dismiss the elements. Close your circle. The wheel has turned
one full circle! Happy new year!

Blessed Be!
