Work has been busy, so I rarely have free time to update this page and add pictures. Dino and I finally decided to get an internet connection, and hopefully we'll have cable by the end of this month. Last Monday, Jennifer passed her BioE qualifying exam and became a significant step closer to PhD candidacy. Congratulations! To celebrate, we met at Carmel and Josh's house to have sushi dinner and wait for Jennifer before heading to Albatross. Turned out Jennifer's IEEE paper due that night was finishing more slowly than expected. So we ate sushi prepared by Josh and Dryw, saved Jennifer some unagi rolls, and fed edamame pods to bunnies Petey and Cordy. We called her, and it would be another hour. Jennifer and her undergrads were having formatting issues with Adobe. In came Hayley and Ryan. They were amused by the bunnies. Actually the big one was getting all of the pods, while the smaller one was locked up in the bathroom. Ryan and Rahul released him after reluctant permission by Carmel, and the small peeved locked up one jealously vied for the edamame pods. Everyone obliged because of his hungry appearance. We hung out, called Jennifer a few more times. Rahul put some cucumber sticks onto the bunnies' backs to see which one was smarter. I took pictures like an obnoxious Japanese tourist. In one, Hayley nearly knocked over Ryan. Near 11 we ended up eating Jennifer's ice cream cake and decided to celebrate another time for and with Jennifer.

Friday Dino and I saw the movie Super Size Me, a documentary about a guy who ate nothing but Mc Donalds for a month to prove that a McDiet is harmful to one's health. We were wondering how a whole movie could be devoted to a guy eating Mc Donalds food, but the pace was fast moving with commentary on obesity and lifestyle in America. It really was hilarious and a must see.

Sunday was Mother's Day. I had sent my mom a gift card to her favorite store, Talbots. Scott gave her an orchid. Together we satisfied her two passions, shopping and orchids. So she was in an especially good mood when I called.
Dino and I woke up early that day to go hiking in Tilden Park with his family. We met three of his dad's Italian professor friends whom were quite eccentric and tried to teach us about all the plants, eucalyptus trees, and insect and plant mating habits. Then we had lunch a Curry Club. As usual their curries were delicious. Portions looked small but were actually filling. Dino introduced his family to mango lassies. His dad drank almost all within 3 minutes and tried to start on his mother's. Then we walked to the Rose Garden in north Berkeley, an ampitheater filled with hundreds of varieties of roses and an amazing view of the bay.

So I was talking to my cousin Sam today, who by the way is going to Harvard in the fall to study medical economics. His girlfriend Abby, who he's been in a long distance relationship with for the majority of three years they've been dating, is also going to Harvard to study law. Congratulations, Sam! Anyway, last year his sister Laura Lee had visited Okinawa to see some relatives. My mother's side is from Okinawa. Turns out that our family is from mainland China, which makes me about 1/16 Chinese. Who knew.
