Scary Sanilac County
Welcome to my website devoted to the paranormal. Meet me, Anna, as I show you scary photos of the unknown. (Compliments of my friend Cork's digital camera. You rule, chica!!!) So here I am in all of my glory. If you want to know more about me, then go to my personal website. If you just want to read some of my finer moments...
Over the summer I spent my nights, not just drinking, but frolicking through cemeteries and taking digital photos of the most haunted sites around my hometown. My favorite haunt was Minnie Quay's house, which I have many pictures with ghostly orbs and images that will give you a rush! Or at least it gave me one. But I am weird. Also, I loved wandering around in the Forester Cemetery, taking special notice of Minnie's grave and the wooded area between the cemetery and beach, where she is said to haunt. So shoot the shit with me and peruse my pictures of Minnie's house and the Forester Cemetery.
To make a long story short, Minnie Quay killed herself when she was 15 by jumping off the end of the docks and drowning back in the day in the small town of Forester. She is said to haunt the the shore of Lake Huron in Sanilac County and beckon women into the water. Legend says that at least one or two women have drowned by Minnie Quay. For more information, check out this link.
I took some pictures of Minnie's grave and the area in the graveyard she is said to haunt. We found many orbs there. That night, I took some pictures with a digital camera of Minnie's old house and an orb appeared in each picture. One was red and when we blew it up, we could see scary faces in it. Sadly, these pictures didn't turn out on the computer. Don't ask me why, because I don't understand either. Minnie ate my disposable camera that night, so the pictures I took that night didn't turn out at all. All of these pictures below are from Cork's digital camera, unless otherwise stated. We realized that Cork's home computer sucked, that is why nothing was showing up. And now the scary photos!!!
These are of Minnie's old house.
If you look closely, you can
see a face under the bushes and mist in front of the door.
There is a red orb and a clear orb next to each other. No
rain or glare either.
There are some more orbs around the house.
Not only is there an orb in the center of the house, there is a
darkened spot in the right window by the door.
There are just two orbs in this picture.
And now we go across the road and down a quarter of a mile to the Forester Cemetery, where Minnie's grave is!
This is Minnie's grave that she shares with some family. There are a few
orbs in this one!
This is Minnie's grave again. Creepy.
Now we go back toward Minnie's house, but lets stop at the old haunted school house where there was a fire and children died. Apparently every Wednesday at midnight, you are supposed to hear children laughing in the cemetery, which is right next to the school house.
Has some orbs. Haven't gone up to it yet, but some day soon I will.
Some Oddities
More scary and strange happenings of Sanilac County.
Face in the Barn
It is a picture of a face drawn onto a pole in the haymow of my old next door neighbor's barn. This past summer, my friend Cork and I did a little B&E (breaking and entering) to take pictures of the scary face. When I was younger I swear I saw the face smiling at me. I am convinced that this barn is haunted by the face. Here is a picture of the steps leading up to the haymow.
Here is the face!
Local Graveyards
My friends and I spent the summer nights frolicking in the local cemeteries whenever I could persuade them too. We visited Downing Cemetery, Forester Cemetery, and other small cemeteries in Sanilac County.
I made a visit to a cemetery started after the Great Thumb Fire of 1881 in Argyle. The first occupants were neighbors that died in the fire. It is located deep in the woods, which are the stomping grounds of either a scary cult or the equally scary KKK. It doesn't matter which it is, because I am too afraid to go there at night. There is a barn and a huge cross in the back of the woods, and the only way to get there is to hike. I have been back there twice. Both times was when my cousin Fast Eddie took us on a hay ride during his annual pig roast. Good times there. Nothing scary happened, since it was just early evening when we went, but I have heard stories from different generations about the scary happenings back in the deep Argyle woods.
Sanilac County Petroglyphs
These are rock carvings made by the Native Americans 300 to 1,000 years ago. There were discovered after the fires of 1881. While you can walk through the woods, the federal site is technically closed to the public. I defied the law and went in anyways. Here is a brief site made by the feds that talks of the rock carvings.
