Janice was raised with German Shepherds and Rough Collies and has been showing and training dogs in obedience since 1974. During the 1990's MCG had numerous German Shepherd Futurity placers as well as finishing their top champion stud dog, Champion Cheyenne of Tanglewood, CD, CGC, TDI, TC (who unfortunately crossed the Rainbow Bridge in February 2005.).
In 1981, the Australian Shepherd came into view at the Wellington, Florida polo grounds and I (Janice) fell in love with this breed. Only ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America) registered and shown at this time, MCG waited for AKC (American Kennel Club) recognition. In 1991, this recognition happened & after 9 months of extensive research on the Australian Shepherd, MCG had its first Aussies! With our own breeding program, that features some of the best bloodlines in the country, we have many dogs that have completed their AKC championships & many conformation pointed dogs that are being shown. We have numerous performance titles in obedience, rally, herding including Herding Tested titles and Instinct Certificates, Canine Good Citizen Certificates, Temperament Certified Certificates, and Registered Pet Therapy Certifications with Therapy Dogs International, Inc. We have dogs currently in training in herding, obedience, rally and lure coursing . MCG is also a registered kennel with ASCA and all our Aussies are dual registered wtih the AKC and ASCA.
Our Borzois and Rough Collies have started to make an impact on the Eastern show circuits and are Up and Coming in the world of dog showing!! Both these breeds I (Janice) have admired and loved since childhood. Tthe acquisition and addition of these two beautiful breeds to MCG SHEPHERDS PLUS has been a dream come true! Our conformation handlers are James and Sheree Moses of Carrollton, GA & Kaleef Kennel fame (our main German Shepherd handler, breeder & expert on this breed), Deborah Yeager of Blackridge fame from Medford, NY and Arthur Favors & Rita Fitzgerald from North Carolina and Manorville, NY. My agility instructor is Louise Wetzel from Glendale, NY. My (Janice's ) main obedience instructor is Evelyn Rossi of A STEP ABOVE OBEDIENCE TRAINING of Ronkonkoma, NY with additional training assistance (as needed ) from Debi Feliziani of Dog Works: Canine Form and Function of Holbrook, NY, & Jeannette Friscia of Westhampton, NY and Deborah Yeager of Blackridge from Medford, NY.
