For Weddings and Preliminaries at SIC
Notes
* Couples intending to get married at SIC are required to fill an application
form of Personal Data which is available at the SIC office.
* Criterion for getting married at SIC.
- Either one, the bride or the groom must be baptised and a confirmed
Roman Catholic.
- Either one, the bride or the groom must be residing in the SIC
pastoral care zone. (If both are RC, but one is not residing in SIC zone
then that person has to bring a letter of consent / no objection from his/her
Parish Priest).
* Copies of documents to be submitted to the parish office are:
- Copy of Baptism Certificate issued by the church (within the last
6 months) where you were baptised.
- Copy of Confirmation Certificate issued by the church (within
the last 6 months) where you were confirmed (only if the confirmation has
not been endorsed into the Baptism Certificate).
- Recent colour passport-sized portrait photographs, one for each.
To be used for the Banns.
- Copy of EE (Evenings for the Engaged) Certificate.
- Copy of Civil Registration of Marriage.
- Draft of the Wedding booklet - to be checked by the office before
printing.
* Throwing of confetti is not allowed.
* Floral arrangements would not be made during the Lent Season.
* For mixed marriages, a dispensation letter from the Archbishop is required
for a wedding mass.
PROCEDURE
- Enrol at the Parish Office - check if the date and time requested
is available.
- Make an appointment with the Parish Priest to proceed with the
Prenuptial Inquiry.
- Make reservation for and attend the EE (Evenings for the Engaged
programme). You can choose either the six-week programme which is conducted
by the SIC team or the three-day programme which is conducted by the Archdiocese.
- Make reservation for a Civil Registration of Marriages, either
at the Public Registry or at the Registry of Marriages at St Francis Xavier
Church in Petaling Jaya.
- Make your own arrangements for the commentator and lector (reader)
for the wedding.
- Arrange for the choir for the wedding. You may contact SIC choir
which is able to perform at the availability of its time.
- Arrange for floral decorations with the SIC Altar Society.
- Arrange for a wedding rehearsal with the SIC sacristan.
- Agree upon your witnesses for the church wedding (one for the
groom and one for the bride) and give their names and I/C numbers to the
office.
- The baptised Catholic partner is required to receive the Sacrament
of Reconciliation before getting married.

For Weddings at SIC with Preliminaries at other churches
PROCEDURE
* Enrol at the Parish Office
* Contact the church where the preliminaries will be done:
- Prenuptial Inquiry
- EE (Evenings for the Engaged Programme)
- Civil Registration of Marriages
- Obtaining dispensation (if one party is Catholic)
* Submit copies of the following documents to the Parish Office:
- Letter of no objection from your parish priest.
- Copy of Baptism Certificate issued by the church (within the last
6 months) where you were baptised.
- Copy of Confirmation Certificate issued by the church (within
the last 6 months) where you were confirmed (only if the confirmation has
not been endorsed into the Baptism Certificate).
- Preliminaries from the other church.
- Names and I/C numbers of two witnesses (they do not have to be
Catholics).
- Two recent passport-sized photographs (one each).
