Hanako skates 3 days a week, takes lessons with Tom twice a week, and continues in group lessons.
She began competing in� Basic Skills, and took first place in all five of her competitions.
She performed her first exhibition program in December 2000, skating to music from "Rigoletto."
2001 marked Hanako's first appearance
She passed her Pre-preliminary Moves-in-the-Field test in August and is now working on Preliminary Tests. She medaled in her first Freeskate competition on September 17, 2001 at the Boston Open. She took Gold medal honors for her performance in the Preliminary Showcase Event at the Providence Open in November 2001.
Hanako is in first grade and attends earlycare programs at her public school.� Additionally, she studies ballet, and takes violin lessons once a week.
