A Walk in the Sun Chapter Eleven "How are you and Dougie doing?" I asked Hayley. "Things couldn't be better, what about you and Danny?" she replied smiling. "We're great, he's taking me out for our 1 month anniversary tonight," I said. "O, where are you going?" she asked. "I dont know it's a surprise, but Danny said I would like it," I said. "Aww you two are so cute!" she said. "You and Dougie aren't so bad yourselves," I said. Hayley and Dougie were going to the cinema again this Friday to "try stuff again" as Hayley called it (in other words they wouldn't be watching the film). Danny picked me up at six. Well actually his uncommonly rich dad hired a driver for Danny's Bentley; even if Danny couldn't drive it. That was a surprise in itself, but what he had in store for me was incredible. First, he gave me a Tiffany & Co. bracelet worth about $750. I knew his dad was loaded, but this? "Danny, I can't accept this, it's beautiful, but it's too much for a one month anniversary," I said while handing the bracelet back to him. "No, you have to, I've been saving up ever since we started dating, and besides it's non-refundable," he said gently placing the bracelet on my wrist. "I love it, Thank you," I said squeezing his hand. It felt good to know that he earned the money for the bracelet. "Hey where are we-" I started to ask but Danny put a finger to my lips. "You'll see," he said. We pulled up to a bay, which was off of the English Channel. I had never been here before, but as soon as I stepped out of the car I saw that it was one of the most beautiful places in the UK. "Come here," Danny said pulling me over to the sand. He laid a blanket down. "Sit here, I'll be right back," he said. A few moments later he reappeared with some more blankets and a picnic basket. The sun was slowly descending into the bay. "Danny, this is perfect," I said. "You really like it?" he asked. I nodded, and he gave me a sweet smile, before opening the basket. "Sandwiched, Grapes, and Strawberries," I said. "And chocolates!" he said in a high voice. "All my favorites," I laughed. This really was perfect. After I ate I wrapped myself in a blanket, and rested my head on Danny's shoulder. I gazed up at the stars, and he put his arm around me. "I love you Linley," he whispered. "I love you to Danny," I whispered and looked up into his blue eyes. He kissed me. Dougie and Hayley were going to the cinema again tonight to have a real, official, perfect date. Hayley heard the doorbell ring from upstairs. "Dougie!" she squealed. "Oh crap I hope he didn't hear that". She had spent almost two hours getting ready, even though she knew Dougie wasn't one to care about what she looked like. She raced down stairs and opened the door. "Dougie!" she squealed again. "Hayley!" he mimicked. He gave her a big hug, grabbed her hand, and then they strutted to his car. When they got into the car Emergency by Paramore started to play. "I didn't know you like Paramore!" Hayley said. "I didn't 'til I met you," he said giving her a smile. They finally made it to the cinema, and Dougie helped her out of the car, Hayley was wearing a mini skirt with black leggings, and a shirt that said "you told me you loved me" down the side in neon green. Dougie thought Hayley looked great, but his favorite part about her was her hair. It was long, brown, and wavy. It was all he could do to keep himself from running his fingers through it. "Two tickets to Flight of the Hobo," he said when they approached the ticket counter. Hayley gave him a puzzled look. "It's supposed to be one of the most romantic comedies about a hobo's childhood love, he explained. Hayley giggled, and he grabbed her hand as they walked into the theatre. The date was far from perfect, but it was the most fun Hayley had ever had with anyone. Dougie accidentally spilled his coke all over her, and apologized over 123 times after getting her some paper towels. Then he gave her his Etnies jacket to cover up the huge coke stain on her jean skirt. Continue |
